It's so funny...I used to wake from a dead sleep (totally hard sleeper) and scream at the walls. Hubby would sit up and seriously look at me like I was sleep walking. I could hear those little bastages in there chewing up my house (really good hearing). He didn't believe me for months until he finally heard them as well...anyway...the point was he probably looked at me like a human would look and laugh at a pet staring at walls lol

Gotta be careful with the mice. I had a HUGE mouse problem in my old house where they bred and were living in the walls and floors and we killed dozens of them. You have to kill them, hate to say it, before they bred and then you’ll have an even bigger mice problem. Good luck!

I got a mouse problem for the first time *ever* (in 10 years in this house) this year. I hired an exterminator since they can carry disease and I know you have a little one. Please be careful. Look outside the house too for holes. They can get through spaces the size of a quarter. They reproduce super quickly and can do a lot of damage in the house.

I live in western Idaho and the time zone line literally takes a zig zag around us so our sunrise is like an hour off from the other side of our time zone AND from other places directly north and south of us. If you’re serious about getting an egg ring, I suggest a silicone one, eggs don’t stick nearly as much and you can get it with a handle. Norpro makes great ones

I got a tiny little nonstick pan just for making egg sandwiches and it works PERFECTLY every time. You can even make over easy eggs in it if that’s your jam

I had the same realization about the time zone / sunlight thing several years ago! I’m not quite as far west as you but it always frustrated me that the sun set so early (comparatively) in Rhode Island when I would go there for vacation 🤣. In the U.K. we have Heinz baked beans which EVERY household has in the cupboard. They’re the same as the recipe you made minus the garlic. They can be eaten as part of any meal (including breakfast) and are often served on top of toasted bread i.e beans on toast or with cheese sprinkled on top so cheesy beans on toast.

I live in the country and we have rat and mouse problems pretty regularly. Just from my experience the scent things to drive them out don’t work for long if at all. We’ve tried mint and hot peppers both in spray and plant form. They just get used to the scent and then ignore it. Maybe since you’re not as isolated as we are try the sonic pest control you plug into a wall socket. I’ve had friends say that they work somewhat. I appreciate your humane nature not wanting to kill them but they do spread diseases. So if everything else fails mouse traps always work. There are even live traps available now that don’t kill them.

Open your under the sink cabinets and bottom drawers throughout your home to see if you see cracks/holes. If a mouse's head fits a tiny hole, they're able to get in your home

Check under all sinks and cram steel wool around where the pipes come in. Check around dryer ductwork. Be thankful you have a house not a mobile. I have to be very careful because there are more little spaces for mice to slip in, hence the steel wool. Good luck !

The audible mice prevention things do work! We had a mouse problem one year when I was a teenager (so, a long time ago) and using traps would get one and then a few weeks later there would be another mouse. Once we got the audible plug in thing we never had another mouse. We had a dog and it never bothered her, but idk if Beagles have more sensitive ears because they are hunting dogs. The weird thing about the audible plug ins is that the first week or two it makes you have MORE mice and then they just totally disappear. I guess it stirs up ones that are hidden in the walls lol. All this is based on experience from like 20 years ago, because I now have a cat which means mice don't come anywhere near. They know.

Decorating for Christmas is such a mood boost, all my decorations are snowmen. And I leave them out through January, snowmen aren't just for Christmas 😁! Another reason I decorating for Christmas is great... because all of the daily clutter gets put away (the floors are clear). Such a good feeling 😊

Yes, there are the silicone moldings for eggs that don't need grease. Not sure if my lower quality pan was the guilty for all the under spills because the pans aren't flat, they have the raised middle at the bottom

Oh no. I’ve had a mouse problem for months. (I live in a London flat where this is pretty normal) but they can not be deterred they are too good for all that stuff. Watch for their droppings and really clean your benches each morning. I’m resorting to traditional traps because I’m just done

We had a mouse problem and have so much spray foam and this wire wool down in every hole possible! They were coming from about a quarter size hole under our stove.. so yes they can get in literally any spot possible haha

They come in thru foundation cracks/holes (look where your utilities come in) or in newer builds they go up behind the siding into the attic. Cedar oil + peppermint oil works very well. Should have an exterminator in, they breed quickly and can become a major issue quickly. (Lived in NYC for 15yrs, lots of experience repelling rodents and my FIL is an Exterminator)

I know I'm a bit late with this but for your mice issue, if you soak cotton balls in peppermint oil and stuff them in the cracks they are coming in it deters them as they dont like the smell and it is safe for pets and kids.

Get some peppermint essential oil and soak some cotton balls, put them in your pantry. The smell will drive mice away. Also, they hate aluminum foil so line all your shelves in the pantry along with the peppermint cotton balls.

We used to mix a few drops of food coloring in the eggs for my niece . She wouldn’t eat them unless the eggs were green , lol

When my apartment had rats those electronic things didn’t work anyway. Found one eating right next to one! Mint packs & original Windex sprayed around cracks work for smell repellent but it’s not foolproof. But the main thing is you need to lock up those crackers & any source of food. They’ll go away on their own if there’s no food or water.
