!!**Monin is no longer vegan** !! They sneakily changed their labels from vegan to “plant based”. I contacted them to confirm and this was their reply: “While we do not use animal-derived ingredients in most of our product categories (our sauces do contain dairy), some of the sugar used in our products is not vegan. Long term, our goal is to retain a sugar supplier whose processing meets vegan requirements. Until then, by the strictest definition, our syrups are not suitable for vegans. “ Of course they had to include “by the strictest definition” in the hopes they won’t lose their plant-based customer base. Most sugar processing is unknown but sadly this is confirmed to be used with bone char thus making it NOT VEGAN. Huge bummer since I loved their syrups!
@beebeeisland2 жыл бұрын
“By the strictest definition”… I’ve been vegan for 8 years and am a vegan activist and personally I would not care about how the sugar is processed. Of course it’s a personal preference but I just wanted to add this take for other people reading. I think it’s so important to keep veganism sustainable and approachable. If people feel like they have to contact every producer of their favorite products, it makes veganism seem hard and pushes people away in my experience. I would rather be 98% vegan and stick to it forever than never to go vegan because it seems unapproachable. I hope this logic makes sense. It’s hard to explain in a short comment.

@@beebeeisland then u aren’t vegan??
@AB-ft7ng2 жыл бұрын
@@beebeeisland Uh what? That’s like saying you’re vegan and eat backyard eggs because it’s a “personal preference” and excluding eggs makes it hard for people to want to go vegan 🥺. Give me a break. Veganism is pretty black and white and it’s not about being inclusive it’s about not harming and exploiting animals. “Vegan activist” my ass. You just sound like every other plant-based dieter who wants the kudos of a vegan label without actually holding the ethical beliefs. The sugar argument is used when you can’t verify how the sugar is processed and have no alternative. This is verified and confirmed NOT VEGAN, if you actively choose to use it after knowing it contributes to the suffering of animals, YOU are NOT VEGAN. Being a “vegan activist” means nothing when you willfully contribute to animal suffering for the sake of your own convenience and taste buds.
