True, the gym locker combo locks seem easy...But, how easy is it to open if it's locked on a locker? As for the padlock, he had the right idea. But, he gave up and used the key that was hidden in the cup of his hand. He should have just showed the combo lock and left out the padlock all together, as that was clearly opened with the key. Best bet is to get a pair of short handle bolt snippers to snip the shackle. Works every time, unless you're trying to open those case hardened steel locks used on store gates. For those, you need the jaws of life to open. LOL

Y'all should really try these style of shims with the lock actually ON something that its locking. Its much easier to do this when you can manipulate the lock in any direction because its not tethered to a hoop of any kin. These videos are awesome and I love ITS tactical but it would be much more helpful if these were done in a more practical and real work kind of scenario.

thanks for this vid. so for the double lock, you'll just need to twist one of the shins, and just leave the other one untouched? do you need to twist clockwise or counter, or it doesn't matter? in a locked padlock, how do you know which one, left or right, is the one for unlocking?
@pauls57459 жыл бұрын
De Day you learn the locks by getting a few to practice with or looking up online, then on sight you know which they are. thumb rule - many brand name key locks are double-dogged, and most combo locks are single.

What an eye opener! Some animal stole my set of keys of which one of these was a padlock key to a Master lock. Tomorrow, I'll use your technique, hopefully saving the hassle of drilling the lock out. In the long-run the lesson is not to use Master locks of this type to secure anything value. I imagine the Master Lock company really doesn't like you that much. But, you have at least one thumbs up from this direction.

Lol if ya think this one guys video actually makes your shed a taget. Then your in real trouble once ya see a thousand other picking channels do the same with every other lock. All the way up to a 300$ padlock🤣😝😜. If you think a padlock is really gonna keep your stuff safe your highly mistaken. Truth is no lock with keep your stuff secure. Only you bein vigilant and bein prepared to fend off attackers. Really its 99.3% more likely your robbed by a nephew/niece or the neighbor kid. Someone who knows you and your movements intimately 🤷🏼.

Bwahaha, my younger brother challenged me to unlock his padlock and I thankfully remembered this (it's got a nice tumbler with a double sided key, which he was expecting me to try picking (which I can't); not saying it's not pick-able, but this made that whole "security feature" pointless). I watch all sorts of educational videos, but I have to say this is one of but a few that was actually applicable to something in real life. Grats, ITStactical ^.^

HAHA, I can't help but notice on pt 1 of the double shim you make no effort to hide the bottom of the lock, and on part two you seem to be very careful to keep your hand over the bottom, then when your shims don't seem to be working you twist your holding hand and suddenly VIOLA the lock opens. cheater ;)

If you notice when he comes back with the key lock he makes sure that the bottom of the lock doesn't leave the palm of his hand. Because he is cupping the key. The lock opens when he turns the lock in his hand. And he states at the end that he shows the illusion of opening a lock. Even so, with enough patients and practice the shims do work. Use a little bit of oil or spit on the shim it helps to slide by the locking mechanism easier.

An alternative would be to use a feeler gauge, saves messing with coke cans. There is another method that works with some single side locks, hit it sharply on the side with a hammer. The inertia of the impact momentarily pops the locking ball and allows the shackle to spring open. For these reasons I always use high security padlocks! However, no padlock will resist an angle grinder with a metal cutting disc installed, and rechargeable angle grinders are now available!

@MigitSniper Note on Naming: Sir Humphry Davy proposed the name aluminum for the metal, however, the name aluminium was adopted to conform with the "ium" ending of most elements. This spelling is in use in most countries. Aluminium was also the spelling in the U.S. until 1925, when the American Chemical Society officially decided to use the name aluminum instead.

Yes, it's VERY obvious that he's using a key in the 2nd part of the double lock. If you watch him the first time he keeps shifting his left hand (screen right) and exposing the bottom of the lock, but the 2nd time he keeps the bottom of the lock concealed the whole time and as someone else said he quickly puts it out of camera view after he opens it.
