I only just found you, but I've watched two of your videos thus far and they have been more helpful than anything I've seen before. I really adored the idea of being 'devoted' to the large, seemingly boring tasks I try to do. I've always tried to declutter all of my crafts, but get anxious or bored halfway through , and end up with more clutter. I think the problem had been that I always see myself as someone who is chaotic and cluttered, and therefore found that my cluttered mess didn't need fixing. But I Want to be decluttered, because it's making me anxious, and telling myself "I am a chaotic but organized being' has significantly made the anxiety and frustration when thinking of decluttering smaller than before. And I think finding ways to make them more enjoyable, like changing up my music or adding blips of enjoyment to the cleaning (I adore dusting things) whenever I feel less motivated would be an amazing choice instead of sitting on my bed and wasting away. Thank you🧡🧡

I don't know why but I got emotional at the part where you're explaining the theory of devotion to your identity in a kind and light hearted way. I guess I'm in a place where I really needed to hear someone say that to me.

As a natural workaholic with a history of ME/CFS, I personally find that there are no other words that make me feel more stressed and angry than "productivity," "opportunities" and "accountability buddies" - due to all of these pushing me toward feeling that I am being pressured to accomplish more than I am reasonably able and that therefore trigger danger warnings in my brain. The idea of purposefully making it a goal to try to enjoy the process more, with the possibility (though not the expectation) that this may actually result in increased quality/quantity of work accomplished, does feel positive to me, on the other hand. The reminder that productivity does not necessarily mean doing more things, and that instead it may be better accomplished in a lot of cases by doing fewer things, also resonated with me. ❤

Thank you for writing this, I’ve never seen someone else put down my thoughts so accurately. I’ve been shamed a lot for not being as fast or consistent as others bc I have chronic exhaustion and pain that mean I burn out really easily if I’m not careful. I get really defensive (probably too much lol) and stressed when I hear about how to be more productive bc it usually comes from people who don’t care if they hurt me by asking too much, or just aren’t empathic about it. It’s nice to see others who are similar, makes me feel like less of a failure.

Doc IZ ❤question : as you achieved your BIGGEST life goal , becoming a doctor ! But then , just as you embarked on this new journey you prepared planned years for …you abandoned the result of the goal . Marriage , BIG move to Hong Kong , pregnancy, being a new mom . EACH of these ALONE are considered “major life stressors “ by psychologists. You decided to hit them ALL …in one year ! Was that part of the Life Planning Process . You “landed l as a new mom , without support if sister , dad mom or London friends AND a new life partner in Hong Kong !!! You’re addressing “procrastination “ and goal setting . But to your audience , you’ve NOT told us how you’re feeling there …how leaving your profession , your family, friends London what is that even LIKE? This is SO major for someone into “life changes “ but you’ve just “skimmed over it “ “oh yeah , got married , pregnant , moved to HK , dropped being a doctor …okay kids , now let’s talk about GOALS!!” I don’t get it ?❤

Ah, the idea of an "energy log" is really new to me, I will give that a try (and make it an "action point" do start right now)! Heard the focus on identity alignment rather than discipline before and embrace it wholeheartedly. Love the overall positivity of this video!

Thank you for your excellent advice, Izzy. I prefer your flexible and realistic approach to productivity over the traditional, rigid productivity advice that's been circulating in the past decade. Thank you! You're truly a Godsend gift to the world! Wishing you a safe and smooth pregnancy. 🥰

I'm only beginning to understand this devotional identity concept. In essence, we decide who we want to be and then behave and make choices accordingly. So, I have been someone who disappoints and not meet deadlines, but now that I have committed to being someone who follows through and meets the deadlines, it is easier and more enjoyable to make the choices that fulfill my values and fits with the identity I want to have.

Hi Izzy, I've watched your videos about study techniques, studying without burning out and they helped me a lot! Thank you! I wanted to know if you are interested in making a tutorial how you read scientic papers properly or what techniques you use. Because I often find myself too overwhelmed which information I need and the perfectionist in me kicks in, and I read all 20 pages of a paper instead the most important ones. It doesn't feel right if I don't read all xD Maybe you struggle(d) with perfectionism, too, and could relate. XO, Noelle

Thats definitely the approach I'm going for this year after alightly burning out in march last year 😂 As a person with a 30 day cycle (a woman with periods) i find it difficult to motivate myself and be in the "go go go" mode 2 weeks!!! Per month. So watching this video makes me feel better about not being mega productive at the expense of my well being ❤

It’s interesting… I am 53 and when I look back at my life I have been a high achiever but I can’t for the life of me make myself do anything! I do what I love and I love what I do. I can’t drag my ass to the gym but I have run 8 marathons. I don’t know why or how.
@Dancinglemon22 күн бұрын
If you feel like it’s more of a personal quirk that’s never gotten in the way, maybe you just want to put your energy towards things that bring you joy and happiness? The gym definitely isn’t for everyone 😂 However, if you feel like you’ve missed out on opportunities bc you’ve never been able to motivate yourself and/or it’s really disruptive to your life or emotional state, definitely research ADHD and see if you relate.
