J-Hope and J. Cole first met in 2022 when J- Hope headlined Lollapalooza in Chicago. It really says something that J-Hope loves J. Cole so much that he basically let him have the majority of the song while he just danced. And don't force yourself to choose a favorite rapper or member of BTS. My favorite member changes day by day. Thank goodness there are 7 days in a week.

When they commented during the reaction that if they got J. Cole to do a feature they would just do like 8 bars & let J. Cole do the rest....that's basically what J-Hope did so he could just dance to someone he looked up to just like he did when he was a street dancer. I love this collaboration for J-Hope, it was a dream realized

Everyone in Chicago saw JHope draw the largest crowd in Lollapalooza history, sold out 100K, including the other performers ... I've rewatched that show about 10 times now.

Like even Jimin gets so giddy punching the walls and tables when he played On the street during a couple of his weverse livestreams fjdjdfjfjdjs so I can only imagine how much Hobi gets hyped and feels like child who is given crack cocaine like I know he is jumping off the walls when he hears Jcole on the track and putting their names together

Yes, watching the sketch (behind the scenes) of that mv was touching, felt so happy for our JHope. Such a dream come true for him. And such respect for J Cole who recognized another talent who looked up to him. Not all people who are idolized give respect to those talents they influence. His old mix tape is titled Hope World, reference to Cole World.

j-hope started out as a street dancer (learned to rap only after joining BTS) and was heavily influenced by hip hop/rap. He loved J. Cole, thus his name (j-hope) and his first solo project was named Hope World (after Cole World). You might enjoy the behind the scenes video of j-hope meeting J. Cole in 2022, when they were both headlining at Lollapalooza. You would also really enjoy j-hope's whole Lollapalloza performance where he performs a lot of solo songs from Hope World and all of his newest album - Jack in the Box. To get some overall knowledge of all members and their backgrounds/how they came together, please watch the Taylor Guide to all 7 members, very informative!!

The BTS guys especially the rappers are all fans of J-Cole & wrote their own song over J-Coles "Born Sinner" and it's titled "Born Singer" and for years it was never released, just performed occasionally until BTS did their anthology album, "Proof" and it's now there with J-Cole & everyone involved with the original track production getting credit on a BTS album. Not surprised at all that J-Cole signed off on them using it as it is a great song about their own struggles making it

5:05 😂😂😂 Dont forget that jhope and agust d are basically brothers. Its kinda useless comparing them. They all have their own lanes. BTS are their height when all of them collaborate together. And yes RM, the leader is an incredible rapper, he is basically a poet. You guys will be impressed by him too. Jhope is special cus of his street dance origin. He basically learned to rap using his dance background giving him very unique perspectives on flow. If you check out jack in the box album you can see his range. J. Cole is a huge influence on bts especially jhope. One of BTSs oldest tracks born singer is a remake of born sinner by jcole. Jhope's first mixtape hope world is named like that cus of cole world. Jhope also dedicates two bars of his verse from the BTS track Hip Hop Phile to J. Cole. You should check out hiphop phile by bts to see who they are influenced by.

BTS rappers are real hip hop heads. 2 of the 3 (RM and Suga)started as underground rappers. Hobi (jhope) started as a street dancer and eventually found his own sound of rap thanks to RM and Suga. also most importantly they write their own raps and 99% of the time produce their own beats. No fake ish here when it comes to BTS. BTS as a whole however is genre less. They never ever stick to one genre so they still do hip hop tracks to this day as well as almost every other genre. Please continue reacting to these talented artists.

12:34 "how come he gets to meet his idol?" - this made me think about the day j-hope meet J.Cole for the first time. It was at Lollapalooza where j-hope was just about to have his first ever solo performance debut (he had only performed as BTS prior) where 100K had turned up to watch his first ever performance. It was the first time in Lollapalooza's history that the Sunday had sold out as the first day (usually it's always Saturdays or Fridays) due to his performance. They had put up a special merch tent for Hobi at the main stage (where Hobi was performing on the last day), and they sold out over a million in merch in the matter of hours - something they'd never experienced either. So I guess it's fair to say that his first ever solo debut performance was a success. Around 15 million views on weverse during the performance where they lived streamed his performance - and the link kept breaking down due to overload.

The thing about our rap line is, they're all PHENOMENAL rappers. Like technically, they're all masters of their craft. They've each been rapping for 14+ years and writing their own stuff the whole time, too. j-hope and Suga/Agust-D even do a lot of their own production (often alongside other producers). When it comes to rap prowess, you'd be hard pressed to objectively call one better than the other. And they all have areas they excel in compared to the other two. For j-hope, he's got the best musicality (credit to his dance background) and the most versatility. He's also the best performer (in BTS, not just the rap-line...hell, he's the best performer in Korea and I'd put him up there with Bruno and Beyonce any day). As you've noted, he does smooth and melodic really well. Though all the rappers sing a little these days, j-hope is actually a sub-vocalist in BTS. He's credited with the vocal line in the vocal gang on like 75% of BTS' discography, often sings during his verses or tracks, even does backup vocals on vocal line solos like Jimin's "Filter." Melody would be another one of his strengths (he actually came up with the whistle melody for this song!). But again, versatility is his superpower. He has songs where he sounds like four different rappers on a single track. He has more aggressive songs, he has songs that are more modern trap rap, his latest album is very east coast, old school, boom bap hip hop with a lot of grunge elements (think Beastie Boys), and his first one has a lot of west coast funk elements and some dance/edm. So he's got a big tool box and I think you'll be hard pressed to pick a single word like "smooth" or "aggressive" to encapsulate him. In the fandom, we tend to call him one-of-one and say "j-hope is the genre" because he's just really different. I also want to include a note about his writing because it's the hardest to translate and westerners notoriously don't /get it/. The Korean language is really flexible and j-hope leans into that. Where RM writes poetic stanzas full of metaphor and Suga/Agust D writes really straight-forward and direct, j-hope tends to write in abstract word clouds full of references and wordplay. It's so context dependent and the context is often obscure or cultural so it's hard to get a good grasp on. The translations often just do a word-for-word thing and the layers and humor and intelligence and meaning often get lost. It happens with all the writers but j-hope especially so try to remember that and give them all the benefit of the doubt. Just imagine trying to translate J. Cole's verse here to someone who didn't speak English...there's a lot of nuance that would get lost and the artistry might go with it. But that's just on the limitation of language...not the writer.

Tbf, what they do now is not completely different from what they did back then. Sure, they've matured and they have to cater for their singers too, but their lyricism improved over the years and they still have a lot of hiphop influences in their music. I mean, 3 of them are still rappers and always will be rappers. Sure, they lost the mohawks the drip and the sunglasses, but they are more themselves now and I think hiphop is about speaking yourself. However, everyone decides that the ' new bts ' is the bts that released dynamite and butter, while those are really far away from what they normally do. They'll always have hiphop influences bc that's the root of half of the group.

BTS ARMY full on celebrated for Hobi when we saw he FINALLY met his role model JCole at Hobipalooza. 😂 we couldnt be happier for him. BTS has a song called Born Singer that JCole cleared that covers “Born Sinner” and it talks about their HipHop journey. ✨ As for RM song recs… heres a few of my favorite collabs as a hiphop head: Change (feat Wale), Rush (feat Krizz Kaliko), Yun (feat Erykah Badu), TigerJK’s Timeless (feat RM), Fall Out Boy’s Champion 😂 his verse is amazing in that remix, Gaeko’s Gajah (feat RM) and few others but this list will be endless if I keep going. 😅💜

I've been an army for almost 7 years now and believe me that picking a favorite between the rappers are HARD. There are a lot of people who do have a fav but I personally can't. Because every one of them are so distinctive in their style as a rapper, writer, and producer. A lot of people had pointed out the details in the comment but I just want to say that it's incredible that they're able to be true to themselves as an artist and rapper WHILE being in a group. They are different yet blend so well with each other and I think that just shows how amazing and solid they are as an artist 💜💜 Some recs I would give for RM first listen Joke : crazy flow and the lyrics may be hard to understand at first bc of the references you might not know & bc it's literally a "joke". He's "joking" and "playing around" for the people who looked down on him. This rap is SO young RM too. A bit more aggressive in the delivery (not that he's not now). Wild Flower: This is from his latest album and represent the recent RM best. The lyrics are insanely beautiful and represents how fascinating the world/things are from his perspective. This is a bit mellow esp compared to Joke. Intro: Persona: It's an intro to BTS 2019 album, Persona. The lyrics are very philosophical and it's one of my favorite and genuinely thought-inducing. Change ft. Wale: If you want to check out his 'english' stuff. One of my fav too and the lyrics are great! Honestly should be an anthem. Thank you if you are reading this 💜

Persona is a good representation of RM. Joke is very good but it's also a battle rap from him and RM today is different from RM in 2015. He also does really cool, interesting features himself. I feel like you would like Sexy Nukim feat. RM. It's very quirky and experimental. And I also think his latest album Indigo is amazing in how versatile and diverse his songs are on it. Not 1 out of 10 songs sounds the same. Looking forward to your reaction, and if you do Joke make sure you find one with proper subtitles, not auto-generated ones.💜

on the street is j-hope's gift to his fans before he left for a while to fulfill his duty. It's also a tribute to his longtime muse, J. Cole, whose music influenced him from a young age (btw, the MV was shot in the same location as J. Cole's Simba MV). I love the smooth flow and nostalgic vibe. But j-hope is a hugely versatile artist, you should check out his other music like MORE or Arson from Jack In The Box album (awesome rock vibes!) or Base Line and HANGSANG from his first mixtape Hope World. Great reaction as always! It's completely normal to struggle between which member you choose as your bias lol. Rm has a collaboration with Anderson paak called "still life". Rm has a lot of great songs such as "do you" or "Joke". Both of the songs are older songs but both masterpieces. And bts' rapline has songs too. And I'd really really recommend them. "Ddeang", "Baepsae", "Ugh" and much more. The lyricism in these songs is crazy. For AgustD I'd recommend you to react to "snooze" this song is a literal masterpiece. It has so much meaning to it. There’s a behind the scenes, making of, this video, if ya wanna give it a look. The mixing of languages & rhyming & cadence is one thing.. amazing actually….but these dang lyrics & words that they wrote, have like double + meanings! The word play is genius level. You think it means one thing… it means like 4 THINGS!!! And poignant DEEP THINGS! Dont know how they do it! They are different! Idk if you’re wantin to go that deep but there are whole videos explaining the lyrics of these rap songs cuz we just that dumb! Hahaha Jk…. A lot of it is has Korean references we’d never get otherwise. Anyway, have fun!!!

two legends in one frame loved ittt 🤩🥰one of the best thing i love about bts is that whenever they features any artist in their songs they always let the ft. artist shine the best it feels like its their song too and not like stealing the whole spotlight for themselves unlike like others artists in which an ft.artist is like a side thing which u will barely notice ...in every bts song in which there are ft.they let the artist shine cause they understand it cause they are a true artist💜💜

Niceee. I can recommend you a few songs. For RM, I would love to see you react to Joke (kzbin.info/www/bejne/hamwo3WEd7yeqa8) from his solo mixtape from 2015 and Wild Flower which is the title track from his debut solo album 2022. There's also the Cyphers Part 1-4 that are just of the 3 rappers from the group and a couple of rap heavy songs like Ugh and Outro: Tear

I too wanna recommend Joke from RM and as you watch it, it will seem like a Joke just like the name!! It’s not written or made to be a serious song, but to prove to the Haters that He ( RM ) can also rap fast and make it rhyme and make it not make since!! Just Remember it’s Written to Be almost like a Dis to the Haters of the Underground Rap Scene that ( RM and Suga ) came from, the Haters stated that RM and Suga aren’t considered Real Rappers since they Left the Underground Scene!! ARMY help Me out, I have been ARMY Since 2017 and I hope I got that info right, that’s what I have been told By other ARMY, any way ( Joke )By RM or ( Do You ) is also another Good one

Yep you guys you never get the same BTS, they are so multi-faceted. I think you guys would really enjoy Taylor’s Guide to BTS. They really came from the bottom. They are the reason why Blackpink and other K-pop groups were able to receive better treatment. It’s pretty impressive how they are all individually talented and when they come together it’s explosive.

j-hope raps like he dances. Very unpredictable but consistent quality, he is the best when it comes to playing with his voice = vocal control! Such a versatile artist. Melodic rap is so pleasing to hear. His flow & cadence is unique to him. He switches according to what the songs needed. He created the whistle. He is the most adventurous with his sound. Please react to MORE and ARSON in fact please listen to his entire discography. Please watch his lollapalooza historic headlining set you will see his powerful stage presence. How passionate he is with his artistry that he writes his songs.

SOOOOOO happy for my bias, j-hope, who got to work with his own idol. His stage name is based off his own name, family surname Jung and first name Hoseok, Jung Hoseok, written surname first, as is common Asia. But it's also styled after J Cole. He chose Hope because he wanted to be a hope and a light in the world, bringing positive energy and healing. Sometimes he says his name feels like a burden, like he is never allowed to be down or have dark days. He is naturally an introvert and gets exhausted sometimes feeling like he has to be the mood-maker. But most of the time he loves what it represents. He commonly goes by the nickname Hobi, which is Hope in Korean pronunciation with the long e vowel at the end which is an affectionate suffix in Korean for those you know well. He went back to his roots with this song, underground and street dancing, while he let his idol take the wheel out of love and respect. j-hope wrote the song of course, except for J Cole's bars. In the end it was "J in the air" as Hobi climbed up from the underground and joined J Cole on the rooftops, now that he can meet him at the top. j-hope's lyrics are for ARMY. This was his farewell song for us before he left for the S Korean military for his mandatory service. He will get out this year in October. He is currently a Corporal with Special Elite Class Warrior distinction and working as a Trainee Instructor near the North Korean border. All BTS members are currently serving their mandatory military duty. Don't torture yourself trying to pick a "favorite." It's far too early. If you have a bias eventually, it will be because the bias seizes your heart and you just connect with them on many levels, and it will happen naturally and undeniably as you hear more of their music and learn more about them. But if it doesn't, then you are just OT7 and love them all. All ARMYs love all of them. j-hope is my bias just for a thousand reasons, but Namjoon/RM and Yoongi/Suga/Agust D are my bias wreckers, because the whole BTS rap line has got me in a chokehold. FYI, the blend of English and Korean is called Konglish. All BTS members can rap or sing in Japanese also, because all members speak Japanese well. S Korea is a small market. The country is the size of Oregon. Japan, right next door, is actually the second biggest music market in the world after the US. They LOVE music in Japan. So it's only natural that S Korea caters to this market and most artists speak some Japanese.

Thank you for the reaction! Jhope is rather underappreciated in the fandom, so it's very nice seeing you noticing his strenghts and reacting to his songs. I recommend also checking out his live performances because he is amazing on the stage. I'm sure others have dropped a link or name of the video for his live performance. As for RM, he's definitely someone you should check out. I recommend Joke, but DEFINITELY waatch a lyric video and also you would enjoy it way more if you spend some time on a guide video explaining the story behind and also the word play in this song. Do not worry anout long reactions, Army LOVE those. Also getting to know the boys qith watching the best guide video to them would be great. It is a rather long video, but it's worth it and like I said, army love those. Sorry for the amount of recommendations but I really enjoy our take on the boys!! We hope to see more soon :)

for an RM song - gonna recommend 'Persona' which has great flow and lyrics, or if you you want a fast aggressive one gonna recommend 'Joke' but keep in mind the lyrics are kind of nonsense but purposefully as he was getting criticism from fast rappers whose lyrics had no substance, so it's kind of a response like 'I can do what you do but better' whilst poking fun at their nonsense lyrics
