Loved your reaction. I was introduced to J Cole by BTS when they took his Born Sinner and did their own version telling their come up called Born Singer. J Hope often expresses what a big influence and inspiration J Cole is to him. His first mix tape he named Hope World after Cole World. He pays homage to his idol by giving him the spotlight in his mv. J Hope fans are going through what you're feeling about J Cole possibly leaving. This is J Hope's last gift to us before he's off to complete his two year mandatory military service. He started as a hip hop street dancer listening to J Cole and now he's dancing to him again in his own mv coming full circle. Alot of us are emotional so you're in good company! Lol 💜 💜💜

Beautifully said. I was a Cole fan wayyy before I ever knew who BTS was and though I love Jhope/BTS with my life, Cole was one of my favorite artists of all time. This was actually Jhope’s goodbye to his fans while he has to do mandatory military enlistment (South Korea they do that still because of their tension/volatility of North Korea) and I think what you’re missing is Jcole is saying he realized this music stuff is what he loves and is good at. I also think he was telling Jhope’s story for him while Jhope freestyle danced. Fire.

J-Hope is using a lot of intentional symbolism in this video (the side street and intersection from what I understand is inspired by an early J.Cole video, the subway corresponds with JColes bars and the subway stop that inspired Jay Zs moniker, the journey through the streets, through the underground and to the pinnacle (rooftop) where he can finally meet up with his inspiration. He started as an underground hip hop street dancer (thus the underground scene) inspired by the Culture, and has always claimed JCole as a Muse and major inspiration...that's why he gave him 32 bars and danced while he rapped...he came full circle while also leaving this gift for his fans and paying homage to HIS OWN IDOL. DOPE Plus...the meaning of Cole spss lyrics speak

"I got chills with this one, I know J-Hope is already established artist but the way they portray the MV and build the verses, it's almost like a hungry youngling asking for his one shot and a tired king aware he can't sit on the throne forever. J-Hope is still on the street level/subway talking about what he's doing and what he needs to accomplish, while Cole stays solid on the top of the building, all alone and thinking about the path he's already taken. Then at the end, they meet, but as a fan giving his idol the flowers he deserves, not a rapper trying to steal the crown for himself." |This was so unexpected to me. Yup, you gotta be happy when they find the end point of the story they’re writing. But I’m not convinced J-Cole is retiring yet anyway. Anyway, if you react more to BTS (especially our 3 rappers), would appreciate it! They have their own individual styles. J-hope is known for his flow and vibe.

I think what J Cole is rapping about may, also, be about J Hope. As a South Korean citizen, J Hope has to enlist into the military and serve for 18 months. This means that he has to hit pause on his music career for over a year. The first half of the song, I interpret it as him giving thanks to his fans by saying "Even my walk was made of your love and your faith" followed by saying that he will be there with you with the line "I leave my soul and my eternity everywhere". Then in comes J Cole's awesome lines, saying that before he (also possibly J Hope) goes he will continue to work on "more quotables than what the quota allows". Quota possibly meaning the time left until J hope enlists, which he had began the enlistment process in late Feb of this year. Really awesome lyrics in this music. Love this collab.

I love that you comment about J-hope’s rap style being different. He was a street dancer before learning rap from RM and Suga (both underground rappers before BTS) and I think that’s reflected in his rap style. He is generally more lyrical in his style (though he goes hard when he wants to) and I think produces the most unexpected and diverse flow out of the three. This song just shows a tiny bit of what j-hope can do but he’s giving the floor to J.Cole as his inspiration and going back to his roots in street dance.

So… basically, J Hope is going to serve mandatory military. The oldest member of the group is already serving. Because of this, BTS is moving into the next faze of their careers. That is doing solo projects. This is the last song before he goes. The mantra in the song is basically telling us how important we are to him. Every step of his career, every choice he made, he had his fans and his BTS brothers in his mind. J Cole was a HUGE influence for him. He gave such big part of the song to J Cole that I believe because of how much he respects J Cole. J Cole did a kick ass job of telling his own story and kept integrity of the song.

Yes, he is from BTS. And J-Hope is Dance. He's the Dance Leader and one of the Main Dancers in BTS, as well as a very talented and skilled Rapper. By the way J-Cole said "Let Her Grow" not "Let Her Go" then he said he wasn't ready to pass the crown. He's not done yet. He's ready to grow, and he's still hungry for more. J-Hope has a lot of music, and he recently released his album Jack In the Box. Let me link you a few things with accurate English subtitles. I think you will enjoy J-Hope, his muse is J-Cole, and his Stage name and first mixtape are inspired by J-Cole. "J-Hope" and "Hope World". This song and this collab were fire. Just some background info. Hobi (J-hope) used to be part of a hip hop street dance crew called a neuron pre-debut. He won national competitions. He also used to do video lives with fans dancing and freestyling called. ‘Hope on the street’ hence the name of this song. While he will be taking a break to go to the military (same as all the members will) they will be all back together in 2025 when they complete their service. In the meantime each member is undertaking individual projects. Another member, RM recently released Indigo his album that I also highly recommend. He collaborated with Anderson Paak, Erykah Badu and many more. He has also worked with Pharrel on his upcoming projects. If you are a fan of Rap, you will love the rap-line… the 3 rappers in BTS. RM, Suga (check out his solo’s under August D.) and J-hope. J-hope has been a long time fan of J.Cole. In addition to the BTS song ‘Born Singer’ a remake of ‘Born Sinner’. Hobi quotes him in his lyrics in Hiphop Lover: ‘I found out more about myself, Hope hope world, Before I made my own world, Coleworld, Ever since he shone on Friday Nights, I got inspiration and wrote my songs’ They met Lallapalooza at which J-hope headlined. They had a beautiful interaction which was documented in Hobi’s ‘J-hope in the box ‘ documentary on Disney Plus. Thanks for this reaction. BTS are a gem of a group. Especially when people approach them with an open mind. 💜💜💜💜💜💜💜

j-hope is a South Korean Rapper, he makes his own music. he's a great lyricist and a marvelous dancer. j-hope is joining the Military Service soon (it's mandatory for Koreans), so "On The Street" is his goodbye song for his fans until he returns in some years. He used to dance to J Cole's songs when he was a street dancer, his favorite album is Cole's album "Friday Night Lights" , an inspiration to start making his own beats. Also, he named his first mixtape as "Hope World" after "Cole World", even now, he showed the big respect he has for JCole, he gave many bars to JCole while j-hope was dancing to his bars, as he used to do when he was an underground dancer. j-hope is a hip hop lover who has been experimenting on many directions to his music, he recently released his solo album "Jack in The Box", its really an album for hip-hop lovers. To end, j-hope joining JCole for meeting at the roof is really meaningful and doing a song with his muse, as j-hope said, its really especial. Fun facts: They met at Lollapalooza, where j-hope was a headliner, Their meeting is on "j-hope in the Box" as documentary at Disney+ j-hope was whistling, and he loved the melody, so he went to studio and recorded it, thats how this song started.

Jhope approached j. Cole about doing a collab and my guess is he told him the song was to be a goodbye to his fans and a look back/ look forward. So your man got in the spirit of that and he's saying where he is - thinking if its time for him to retire, but that making music is his soul, that he's not tired of it but still hungry. The line about a father watching his daughter go to the altar because it's time to grow indicates that he may be going a different direction. He may be starting a new phase of his career - so maybe retiring the old J.Cole but music is what he was made for and he's not going to go silent. I look at it as not passing the torch but two artists dealing with similar branches in the road

Jhope started as a renowned street dancer before becoming a rapper. I think this is him paying homage to his roots. You should check out Hobipalooza, where Jhope and JCole met for the first time.

He did say “gotta let it grow…” not “go” which I think is an important distinction but I definitely felt your emotion.j-hope is getting ready to fulfill his military duties and will be gone for around 2 years so, it definitely hit for a lot of different reasons. I loved this collaboration.

The song feels sad because it is a goodbye song from Jhope to us ARMY coz of his enlistment to military so he have to leave us for 18 months but it also sad because J Cole like hinting he will retire? I hope he not 😘 tq for the reaction 💜💜

What you feel about J Cole is what Army feels about BTS. They are humble, kindhearted people that help us with their message when we need the most! They are getting ready to go to the military. One of them, Jin, is already there. J Hope is the next to go and this is his song to Army. J Cole is his idol. He started as a street dancer. So when J Cole is rapping he is dancing underground like he did growing up and finally going to the roof where his idol (and now Cole Hyung 💜) is.

Jhope is distinguished by being far from K-pop and a lover of old school hip-hop, as he is descended from the street dance culture and the ancient original art of hip-hop. J-hope is one of the few distinguished people in Korea, and this is what made me obsessed with his songs, their strong rhythms, their lyrics, and so his last album jack in the box is such a masterpiece And this song OMG THEY BOTH ARE AMAZING 🤯❤️‍🔥 The fact that Jhope gave a lot of lines to Cole shows the extent of his respect and love for him because he is actually his inspiration. Jhope has an mixtape ( Hope world) based on cole world , check them pls and I’ll be waiting for ur reactions 🙏🏻

J.cole.Legend × J. hope RESPECT/CRAZY~~!!!!!!

This is also a goodbye song by Jhope saying thank you to his fans (Army) for their faith & support the last 10 years before he goes into the military in South Korea. I don’t know how much comfort this will be but JCole (like BTS/Jhope) loves music too much to say goodbye forever. It might be a years between releases in the future but people who love music this much can’t stop creating.

I think J. Cole is talking about that those thoughts are on every artist's mind once in a while, occasionally. I think he made a promise that his hunger is still there.. (If you say it thrice it is a promise/comes true?) but I really think he is kinda commenting the hiatus that J-hope is going for almost 2 years. This is Hobi's last song before his compulsory military service. Also Hobi used to have his free dancing videos or free training sessions with dancer friends named "Hope on the street" and he has not made them under that name for a long time, but he is always 'on the street' for his fans - he'll never really leave us, not even now. 💜

Good job for someone unfamiliar with JHope. Yes, he's in BTS. He's the main dancer, rapper, vocalist, songwriter, composer and producer. He's been a huge fan of J Cole since "Friday Night Lights." The two of them met in person at Lollapalooza last summer when JHope was headlining .

J-Hope is the dance leader of BTS. And not just a dance leader, he also won in a national competition when he was young. You can check all his dance break videos, everything is iconic. 💜 The kid wearing like J Cole's attire is J-Hope when he was young because the guy is always his idol and he used to dance with his music when he was a kid. That's J-Hope below the subway while J Cole is at the top of the building and they meet at the top in the end. J-Hope really adores him. This is a temporary farewell song by J-Hope since he was scheduled for two years of military service in his country. If you noticed the "Stop" sign in the MV, you will also notice that on BTS Jin's Astronaut MV with Coldplay since he was the first member who underwent military service last month and now followed by J-Hope.
