Was teaching myself this song on guitar and I realized that the lyrics at the begging of each verse were what the verse ended with Ex. “He *lived* down by the farmhouse- He *lived* a long, long, long time, Long time ago” “He *lost* one yellow Sunday- He *lost* a long, long, long time, Long time ago” “Well, he *left* in a hurry- He *left* a long, long, long time, Long time ago”

Hey Jack, not sure if you still read stuff off KZbin, but I just wanted to share I recently lost my Dad due to a heart condition, we weren't too close to be honest, but the only thing that could make us connect was your music, I showed it to him when I was like 10 years old, and this one was his favorite. Thank you for helping me make memories with him I can hold on to during this hard time. For real❤️

I heard this song about six years ago (I was 14 and I'm almost 20 now), forgot the title and was looking for it ever since. Then yesterday I suddenly remembered the phrase "a long long time ago" so I Googled it and here it is. Still as great of a song as when I first heard it. :)

I don't think I have synesthesia because I don't get this for every song, but this song has clear colors for me: brick red and forest green. Not in a Christmassy way, more like a rose with a thorny stem, or vines growing on a brick wall.

Gosh -- that was sumthin' else. You've been dancing on the raggedy edge of great (read: so very good -- so much of your solo work is so, so good) and this is truly great (read: timeless, powerful, fun, enchanting). Where has this been hiding? All of the pieces have been there (read: presented in prior videos) but never arranged this way. Beautiful -- thank you!
@10CPhil13 жыл бұрын
Absolutely love this track & how its been produced, layered & performed. IMHO you are 1 of the very few unique artist/singer/songwriters out there at the moment.. I can hear influences from the quirky, narrative lyrical styles & carefully constructed soaring melodies of the Beatles (Sgt Peppers/Magical Mystery Tour phase), Billy Joel, 10CC, Kate Bush, Sting & Rufus Wainwright amongst many others, but hasten to add that you still retain your own unique style & personality. TY for sharing :0)
