Just as you know, little fun lore, this is the 3rd tournament in db the first one Goku lost to Jackie chun (master roshi in disguise) and the second tournament Goku lost to tien (it was actually a draw but Goku got hit by a car so he was out of bounce a second before tien )

I find really funny how most of the fans started with DBZ which basically means they missed out on about a third of the story before Z, so Goku and Piccolo teaming up to fight the Saiyans seems like a way less of a big deal.

For Kid Goku's limbs, no they didn't censor it. King Piccolo just used enough power to paralyze them, but Goku's other side still wasn't paralyzed.

in the manga his limbs have holes through them, in the anime it's just burnt black dots. But you're right, the limbs never come off.

I’m pretty sure they started with this part of OG because the gameplay style of Kakarot wouldn’t really fit the first few arcs of DB. It was basically an action / gag manga with very light, playful action. It started to become the style we see in Z during the King Piccolo arc.

Even with this DLC, you will have to experience classic Dragon Ball sooner or later. The game only covers the last arc, basically what happens RIGHT before DBZ starts.

A little kanji guide: 魔 (ma) written on Piccolo Daimaoh's outfit means Demon 鶴 (tsuru) written on Tsuru Sennin's suit means crane. On top of his head is a crane not a goose. 神 (kami) on Kami's suit means God 殺 (korosu) on Tao Pai Pai's suit means murder. He's a mercenary, hence this and the "KILL YOU!" on his back

King Piccolo looks like Kami because they were once one Namekian. In order to become Guardian of the Earth, Kami had to split himself into two, one became Kami and the other became Piccolo.

I guess I understand why the first OG DLC they released was this part of the story. Dragon Ball's shift from a goofy adventure story to a martial arts story happened pretty early on, and there are plenty of good fights throughout OG, but King Piccolo was when things really started to feel by what we'd later call Dragon Ball Z. But I'd love to somehow play the OG story from the beginning! The Gameboy Advance game did a good job of it, but in Kakarot graphics? That'd be cool. Kuririn was a teenager at this point in the story. He and Goku are roughly the same age--and at this point Goku had only slightly outgrown him in height (they were the same height when they met). Muten Roshi, Kuririn, and Chiaotzu were all killed in this arc. Wishing people back to life was so unusual at this point in the story that they weren't even sure how it would work, and Bulma preserved the bodies in stasis pods to be sure they wouldn't pull a Monkey's Paw or something.

Tien won last time, not the year before, the Tournament used to have a 5 year gap until Goku and Krillin's first time where Goku came close to winning but was only able to utter the words "I am the Champio-" and 3 years later, he came closer to winning as both him and Tien were out of the arena and falling with Tien not having enough energy to stop himself but Goku hit a car before either could hit the ground so Tien won there.

It's not censored, King Piccolo doesn't blow off Goku's limbs, he simply breaks them so he can't use them. But he forgets one arm and that's all Goku needs to make donuts. Also I think the reason for not starting from the beginning is that there are no real big 1 v 1 fights for Goku before Piccolo. They could have done more with it I guess, but it would have had to lean heavily on the RPG aspects over the fighting. And all with no flying.

I mean there are plenty of fights. Tambourine vs Goku, Tien fighting an old rival, Tambourine vs Yamcha, Tien vs drum, The first Goku vs DK Piccolo, Krillen vs tambourine if they want to include that despite not seeing it in the show, goku rematch with tambourine, Roshi vs DK, Chiatzou vs DK, Tien vs DK, Goku vs Drum, Goku vs DK. Most of those are canon to both the manga and the anime maybe excluding the Yamcha fight but the man needs something. Plenty to work with if they tried it.

He shatters all his limbs except the final arm he uses to propel himself into the air with the Kamehameha. "It's Saiyan aging man" More like Toriyama aging. Saiyans weren't made up by this point. "I wonder why they started with this point of OG Dragon Ball and not just the beginning of OG" I assume it's because they have more assets from the later stuff that can be modified for the 23rd Budokai since they're closer in age to how they are by the Saiyan Saga. It'd probably take a lot more effort to create entire new models for Pilaf's gang, the 21st Budokai contestants, all the members of the Red Ribbon Army, the 22nd Budokai, and stuff that they didn't cover with most of the Piccolo Daimao Saga. "I would just rather there not be voice lines than random throwaway for these empty dialogue sections" That's pretty much my thoughts on the dubs of Dragon Ball and Z XD they just will not shut up in the English versions during moments where it's silent in the Japanese versions of those shows. "Is this the first time they (Senzu Beans) are introduced?" No, it was during Piccolo Daimao when Yajirobe brings Goku to Korin. This is just the first time where the other characters get to use Senzu Beans. "My boy just actually got abused." That is pretty much the Crane School way =D "In the manga or anime how bad does he actually beat Tien?" They never show that in the manga or anime. This is stuff made up for the game. The relationship with Toa Pai Pai still pretty much is viewable as how it's presented here though. "Did Tien win last year?" About 3 or 4 years prior, but yeah, the previous tournament (in what is arguably the best tournament of the entire series to me).
