Jacob is not only pioneering micro tonality but integrating it so smoothly into traditional harmony. .. his micro-chords are just melting into traditional harmony. It's so natural the average listener has no idea what's happening; he's even winning Grammys. But music theorists and scholars are scratching their heads in confusion and disbelief because it sounds amazing and they can't understand it or teach it...and NO ONE can duplicate it. How fortunate we are to be witnessing this rare event in music history. The Western scale and harmony hasn't seen this type of transition since Bach. Music scholars... I welcome your historical perspectives. Happy Holidays Jacob Collier and thanks for sharing your rare gift.

Jacob is a great inspiration for young musicians, and I believe he has created things nobody had ever even considered so. His musical motifs and methods will continue to be heard in the music of years to come. The fact that he is only 26 years old is astonishing; time will only tell what kind of grounds he will shake and boundaries he will break. Jacob has been able to marry pop, choral, funk, soul, folk, jazz, and countless more genres so far, and I think he will continue to resonate with his audience; maybe even expand it.

anyone else find it funny that Charles Cornell complains about Christmas music, then Jacob Collier decides to drop some Christmas music the literal next day?

Happy to be one of the people who actually hears Jacob's music, like the people in these comments. Wanna know why? Because always when I try to show his music to anyone else they don't care, they don't listen, they start to talk in the middle of it and go on with just being depressed. You people make me happy! Love to read your comments.

Had similar experience several times. We have to put up with living in our JC bubble. 😏

@@achenarmyst2156 exactly... and I don't think it's necessary a good thing. More people should hear and learn appreciate this form of musical art and expression.

Sadly this level of artistic expression is likely to go way over most peoples heads. To many, Jacob will have 'ruined a perfectly good Christmas song ' (you can just hear them, can't you 🙄)

I've learned that the only folks who *really* get it either studied music (formally or informally) or appreciate the sophistication and complexity of jazz. Your comment absolutely mirrors my experience.

@@calchip it's a weird feeling. But I don't wanna be a downer, I'm glad that we know how to appreciate this type of musical talent, and learn something of value out of it. :)

The run he does at 2:59 is so amazing. The way that it rises using wider intervals makes it feel so open and vast, then when he resolves the E to the F!! I can't stop listening to that part. Literal music to my ears!

I can guarantee that within the first 5 seconds of the track Jacob will have captured the entire sound and feeling of Christmas

Before the video even starts, I just click the "like" button ..... why wait? Simply brilliant arrangement!!!! Jacob makes me smile - he exudes joy and enjoyment. While I truly enjoy his collaborations with others, it is nice to, once again, absorb his solo effort. Brilliant and wonderful. The high spot of an otherwise gloomy day and week ... THANK YOU JACOB!!!!
