That clip Scott did was hilarious. I have loved this song for many years and they did it justice. Kevin typically plays the cello on tour, as a solo performance and also with Matt playing drums with him. He is insanely talented.

I LOVED this song in the 90’s, used to do side kicks to this Seal song on my Cindy Crawford VHS workout tape 😝. SO happy PTX did Kiss From A Rose and yes, Scott’s TikTok was hilarious - his sense of humor is goofy and adorable.

This song is originally sung by Seal. Pentatonix always puts a non Christmas song on their Christmas album. Even though it had the word snow in it.

I guess you don't realize what a spectacular talent is Kevin Olusula. He placed second in a national contest looking for the best young cellist in the nation, with Yo-Yo Ma as the judge and presenter of the final program at Carnegie Hall. This was a few years before he met Pentatonix and decided to spend the rest of his life in music, but when the most treasured musician in the world on the cello, Yo-Yo Ma, thinks the world of you and your talent, you have been essentially knighted by the King, so to speak. You do know, don't you, that he also won this same award on the Saxophone while still in high school, and again, he was feted at a concert in Carnegie Hall in NYC. He's some special talent, no?

Kevin plays cello at all Pentatonix concerts. He has his own section of time during every PTX concert. He also plays at least one song with the others during the concert. I thought that you had gone to a Pentatonix concert. I must have confused you with a different reactor. I love the original song and I love Pentatonix version. I love how so seamlessly Matt and Scott sing the verses that some people do not recognize the switches.

Nobody can focus on everything the first time they hear a song, so it's interesting what the various reactors pick up on. Most are focused on the lead vocal, and wouldn't even realize there was a string in the mix. You are listening to the production. One reason I like to hear your professional assessment of music

Of course that was Kevin playin the cello. He’s a master on the electric cello. Have you watched his KOver of Down. If not you should. As a musician I know you’d love it. He does lots of looping and shreds the cello in that one too,

Kevin is a classically trained cellist. He is phenomenal on a cello. He has several videos of him playing the cello. Also he has in past tours done a solo playing the cello much to the audience cheers! ❤️

Kevin played the electric cello during the last two Christmas tours. He can really really play. Layering is a question I hear a lot. One arranging trick I’ve noticed that sounds like layering is Mitch and Kirstie singing the same line. The difference in timbre between the two sounds like layering. It really fattens the melody. I noticed this particularly at live events. Also notice that Mitch and Kirstie rarely sing harmonies off each other. Their voices are too similar with Kirstie’s head voice and Mitch’s, whatever he sings, counter tenor or falsetto. BTW … This is an old Seal song.

Great reaction Jacob! You brought out so many important details of the production. I too think this might be my favorite cover of theirs so far. I've loved the song since Seal released it. I knew they would do the song justice but did not expect such a cool arrangement. I believe this song was written specifically for the Batman Forever soundtrack, which could explain the darker, Gotham vibe to it.

It was sung by Seal for I believe the original Batman series in the 1990’s with maybe with Val Kilmer. I think the song was the in last film Batman Forever. I think that song was the only the good thing from the movie.
