As someone who spent over ten years serving adults living with mental illness, There are an absolute OCEAN of non-celebrities who have extremely engaging life stories and so, so much wisdom to share. I wish Mayim would leverage her own celebrity for the greater good and begin to interview some of them here and there. It can be done. The SBSK channel on KZbin leaps to mind.

This is exactly it. There's no need to feel rage towards Jada but most people around her speak poorly of her. She has been caught lying, gaslighting and very importantly, being involved with her son's friend. Having on the show bad people who haven't learned from their tough lives just invalidates what others have lived because of her. She's caused to much damage to her family, it's irreparable. I wouldn't want a selfish person as such to get a platform to speak of themselves ina that's untrue and present themselves as "helping others or trying to share a sob story". This is not it. However blindsiding her on systemic racism definitely caught me (and her )off guard. To watch her fumble was very intriguing. I think fame has this effect on people. Because people hang on their every word, snap pictures of them, ask for autographs, they get this overblown idea of self as someone of high importance and ultimately act and become narcissistic. They are sheltered somewhat in Hollywood and they don't understand that outside of that unreal bubble their words come off hollow and totally revolving around self. Mayim does it too. She wasn't ever the pretty girl but she was the Hollywood star and the smart girl, so she obsesses over herself too but it comes off more neurotic to me than Jada, who I agree comes off like a narcissist. I also think Mayim is interested in the science of therapy whereas Jada loves to talk about herself. Honestly, when she talks I zone out, but I listen to Mayim even if she does remind me of neurotic person, we can all be neurotic sometimes. I would hate to sit and talk about myself for an hour it would be so boring to me but some people love to talk about themselves, clearly.

Mayim....I appreciated this interview and your courage to have it. Trauma and PTSD do paint a different picture in life and isn't always straight-forward- It is definitely complicated. It also affects people differently. This interview with Jada may have gave me a deeper insight into her journey and why she made certain decisions. I don't agree with all the decisions she's made, but I'm not Jada.....I do, however, understand trauma and felt she was being pretty raw and honest. Narcissists or borderlines don't typically set themselves up to be judged - they care more about image and blaming everyone else for their problems which is why they typically don't get help. The way she expressed being detached from the experience with her therapist is definitely part of coping with trauma. And it makes sense to me that she and Will decided to separate so they could step away from the patterns they had together. Deeper level stuff. Especially when she admitted that 99% ended up being what she caused in the relationship. Anyway, I got caught up in all the talk about Jada but this interview gave me a little more understanding. I know that's not a popular things to say right now but I wouldn't want you to shy away from other controversial guests...I think these interviews are important.

The conversation brought up some great insight about recognizing that anyone can have PTSD from unresolved trauma, and that we sometimes go to other people to heal ourselves, but it always comes back to identifying and healing our own wounds. This is remarkably important in terms of populations who aren’t culturally okayed to do therapy. As a white female therapist, I am aware that even the best of my knowledge and help can’t immediately reach minority populations by way of trust in the whole experience. I don't understand how she describes the way they stopped using the terms husband & wife? Did they start calling each other Mom and Dad when their first child was born? In my mind , if you are married, you ARE husband & wife. It is part of who you are, no matter what you call each other. Just like you are always going to be Mom & Dad to your children.

Jada needs to be real, and admit that she wasn't in love with Will. She also leaves out the fact that she was coming out of a relationship with ex-NBA player Grant Hill, whom later met and married R&B singer Tamia, and they've been married 25 years. This was around the time she said she felt suicidal (the first time). It sounds like it was a devastating break-up, because she never talks about it, but it's publicly documented. Will and Jada were on the rebound, but it still could've worked, if she had developed and fell in love with Will. That never happened, and that's when she got depressed again, because now she's living with regret. Her and Will also 'drank the kook-aid' of Scientology, which just confused them even more. The Black community noticed the shift in their personalities long ago, as we knew who Jada was before she got with Will (we loved her). We don't know who this woman is.

Jada has done so much lying and portraying the victim that she’s become an expert on drama. Her children, her marriage and her friendships are all suffering, because of her words and actions. We just listened to her as she dug herself into a hole deeper and deeper. No one had to speak out against her no one had to share their experience for me to say that I believe she is the most hurtful and arrogant woman in the business. So imma pass and wish there was a way to hide this podcast session. Prayers for the people she hurt. I didn’t look at the comments until I wrote mine. Just wanted to see if anyone else felt similar to how I feel….Jada has canceled herself and unfortunately I won’t ever support anything she is involved in. I was not disappointed at all. I was surprised that we have both have gone through very similar situations. This has been one of the best and genuine I have seen Jada in an interview. I am so happy that Jada found the almighty love of God. I hope she understands that God is everywhere and we can pray anytime, any place. He always hears us. No drugs, no churches are needed. They're like the news but better like honest they do a lot of research and know a lot of important people to get the correct information.. Well this girl is nothing but bad news. Jada that is! I experienced a very similar relationship dynamic. I lost my spouse to suicide in 2016. A lot of things led up to it ,some known,some not. Being blamed and villanized is a truly horrible attack on a person’s character and there is literally nobody in the world you need to speak to about it than the person that is not there. Emotionally disconnecting is not so different.

I am just starting therapy at 54 after several losses than gave me anxiety which id never had or felt before. I get very frustrated when my therapist tries tu give me breathing and tactile exercises when i feel like getting to the root of what caused this....im a people pleaser and want to tell him. Again...first round of therapy and first therapist. This has more to do with yhe end of your episode. Not sure what to do but dont want to quit.

I totally get what a number of people are saying in the comments cuz i hv been anti Jada for a long time. And after the slap even more so. That said this was the best interview as Mayim did a great job - i was a little concerned when she admired Jada’s roles etc. I think Jada was 80 - 90% truthful. Maybe not but she got to the point of understanding she was the problem not that Will had no part but she was being raw with herself. Now it’s what she does from her on end. I wish her luck. May she continue her progress & self observations & respect & love for those around her cuz it’s not just the awareness but the long term changes that happen.

This was hard to watch/listen too. While Jada spoke of taking personal responsibility, she never mentions how her actions have hurt other people. Not just Will, but everyone close to her. She talks about how she realizes she's part of the problem and working on it but never speaks on how. I don't follow celebrity news, I stopped finding it entertaining a long time ago, but what happened between her, and that young man should have been discussed further as that would have been a great example about how her actions had an impact on someone else, that is not Will. She still blames him and makes it sound as though she is trapped through "love and friendship". I don't know their relationship, no one does. However, a person can 100% influence the actions of another in public based on the interactions between them in private. "I didn't want to get divorced and then realize 5 years down the road I was the problem." "I tried for 6 years I'm never going to be rid of this man."
