@Nnamz3 жыл бұрын
Yup. That one hurt quite a bit. Something I'm actively trying to remember, though, is that only one side is talking about this. Colin has been refreshingly candid about all these, especially in this episode, so it's much easier to empathize with Colin over time because of this. But it's clear that Greg is also hurt a great deal (if you watched Colin's last episode at KF, you could argue that Greg was more hurt than anyone in that moment). He's just probably dealing with it by pushing it aside and focusing on other things, whereas Colin would rather deal with it directly. I've done both. Most broken friendships or breakups I've had have been mitigated by direct communication, but I had a particularly painful breakup 6 years ago where I simply had to cut that person out entirely and sever all communication attempts. That's simply what was healthy for me at the time, and that might be what's healthy for Greg. Everybody is different. I hope with time this will hurt Colin less.

Especially when he’s not even being THAT CONTROVERSIAL. We all know there are people out there saying truly awful shit. Colin doesn’t even qualify. I’ve always felt Colin was a genuine dude, and all those personal attacks against him felt hollow to me, lacking any sort of substance. It all felt reactionary. It makes me so angry because it feels like it can happen to any one of us. Even a misunderstanding. Even just a brain fart can ruin relationships. It feels like there is no room to just have a genuine conversation about something serious, even if people disagree. The worst part about this is you can tell that after living with his best friend for a decade, he can't tell the story you know he wants to, just clear the air, but it will incite drama. I feel so much for him you can tell that he made mistakes and he admits that here. He lost his best friend who he now thinks wasn't really his best friend after all. Just take a look at the KF subreddit, they say when Colin talks about this it sends a wave of hate to KF so don't do it, he wouldn't want it. But there is reason people keep asking about this situation. The worst thing KF could have done is stay quiet, they should have just put their cards on the table and let the chaos die down. Now they will get questions about this in perpetuity. I don't need the intimate details of these men’s lives but if you are Greg how can you let this destroy a friendship that lasted a decade, a man who helped you through cancer! Fuck business, you get very few people in this world that are ride or die, I don't know their relationship, but I bet Colin made mistakes and was partly to blame but you work through that for a man who would "Go to the mat" for you. At the end of the day the way he sees it was, colin jeopardised their livelihood, but honestly, they did that to themselves when they left their partner to the wolves. people saw it as morally incredulous and couldn't take them seriously. It’s not colins fault the business took a hit after his departure, just like it’s not their fault colin was constantly out-voted and wanted to take the business a different direction.

MinnMax is pretty similar in that case (although they’re new) and they do great work and get interviews most other people (even at big sites) aren’t getting. I find it disheartening when some bigger outlet like GameXplain covers interesting bits from their interviews and gets more attention than the original source. Colin, I know it must have been uncomfortable, but I just want to let you know that this was a necessary closure for me, and I thank you for that. I think I speak for a lot of people who just needed a few questions, an acknowledgment, a simple conversation, about what happened at Kinda Funny. What happened still sucks, and won't stop sucking in the future. You guys were years of our lives. But this was all that was needed personally for me to make peace, at least partially. I can finally put it all to rest. Things happen.

Colin definitely won the war. Last Stand Media blows Kinda Funny out of the water.

Their numbers are not good compared to their subscription numbers. Last stand media is doing just as good numbers and making much better content

Uuhh that's debatable.

Eh. I feel like they serve different purposes. For example, I much prefer Last Stand's take on gaming. However, I enjoy Kinda Funny for their fun takes on films.

@@EpicFurious I agree on this. Obviously, I like Colin as a person more, but that doesn't mean I don't watch KF for its happy-go-lucky (and yes, superficial shallow content (often); sometimes shallow is cool). Last Stand Media is in-depth content that you have to digest, not as accessible tbh, but definitely richer in depth and meaning. I like both. What they did to him tho, shitty.

I want David to come on to the show more often, make him a guest host sometime Colin. Maybe on one of those days, when Sickly Chris is dying and cant make it on the show.

Absolutely agreed. Jaffe would be great to have on more often... in fact I think I'll go sub to his channel.

The day Colin left I stopped watching KFG. By far one of the greatest game media journalist of all time.

This was an excellent episode. I planned to eat my dinner while watching TV-as I always do. Instead, I couldn’t stop listening to this and watched it straight through. I grew a lot/even more respect for Jaffe in this. He’s a pretty awesome dude. Both him and Colin seem to be some of the most intelligent in the industry. Also, extremely interesting to finally hear more about the KF situation. I used to love Greg a ton, but over the last couple years I’ve slowly grown to realize how disingenuous he is-to the point where I pulled my Patreon support and rarely listen to any of KF’s stuff any longer. It became evident that Greg cares more about his reputation and looking virtuous than most everything else. I think he has some good qualities, but he also has a very fake and hypocritical side, and I have little respect for that. As for Nick? Man, I love that dude. And Andy actually puts up a good fight for my #1 favorite. And Blessing is really good as well. Anywho, Colin, you’re the man. Keep the awesome content coming. I’m a faithful Patreon supporter, and I can’t see a day where that changes.

I really don't get why people "ghost". If you need to cut someone out of your life for whatever the reason, just tell them why. I had to do this with a friend once who betrayed a mutual friend of ours (stole his girlfriend). I just told the guy why I didn't want to be friends with anymore, wished him well, and we ended it relatively amicably. I don't get why Greg doesn't tell Colin why he doesn't want to talk anymore.

Also want to say that I'm a writer today because I had writers and gamers to look up to like Colin and Greg. I definitely appreciate Colin's work and would like to see a games media with the intellectual honesty of Jaffe x Moriarty.

It's crazy I used to think Greg was the emotionally open dude and that Colin was the more tight gripped moody guy -- crazy to see its completely the opposite especially after Jaffe's comments.

This is probably still my fav episode of Sacred+. I’ve watched this 3 times over the last year or so. Jaffe’s my dude. (Wish he didn’t interrupt so much though lol) Can’t wait to see u 2 again. This is already the realest podcast around, and Jaffe just brought the realest of the real to it.

My ears perked up when I heard Jaffe say that some people would mention to him that "Colin is racist." I've met racist people in the video game industry before. Colin Moriarty is not one of them. It makes no sense.

Honestly one of THE MOST engaging conversations i've ever had the pleasure of listening too! It was like a 2hr breath of fresh air! I'm was wondering if there was any "real" people left out there! Everybody is so quick to please, so quick to follow, so quick to..ordinary....sheeple. Thank you for some meaningful, substantive, and just truly interesting content! I'll be tuning in..often! 😁✌️👍
