Back in time ... when Jonny was more on the blues edge... Astounding for a 16 year old guy (Jonny was born in 1981, and this video was shoot in 1997). Here, you can see him delivering his skills with plenty of heart into this incredible track. Other thing : he began to play guitar three years before this show took place.
I was in awe in 1997. I still in awe.
This is to my eyes the best Jonny Lang video ever, and maybe the best video ever I've ever seen from any performer, from classical music to pop-rock. RAW GENIUS, RAW GIFT. UNBELIEVABLE.
I already put this video on KZbin but there was synch problems. However it was seen 52 000 times. No it is OK, no synch problems anymore.

Mari Sundell. Actually his singing is weak (faky..) People were impressed by the guitar playing. But they wouldn t like the singing that much. Like an unconscious feeling. He s been manipulated by the industry. Family should have been wiser end send him to berklee or something. I heard he had a hard time when he became an adult. Check out freddy king. He shouted the blues but abolutely no out of key notes. Muddy waters could mumble and shout. Same. John lee hooker would never shout. It s sad but johnny lang wasn t that in time. Close but not in time. Like mick jagger lets say. That s why the guy sings so strange. Lots of time and energy wasted. Too bad

When I said I like listening to him I didn't mean his voice I love his guitar playing just some of his videos he seems a little to put on..maybe not but no I don't care for his vocals and generally I do love to watch guitar player working his craft, there's nothing sweeter actually but just something about johnny that rubs me wrong I guess peace

But now time has past and i still sing and play. i don t get fooled or fool myself with his singing and played. His back guitar guy is the actual Man on the guitar. Kid was manipulated. I remember back in 97 I was just a teen back in India when his first album came out Lie To Me, I was 16 and was blown away by the fact that a kid just an year older than me could sing and play the blues like he could. Some people are blessed with talent. Shame he didn't turn big, cause he's really good.

I posted the text below for his video "on the darker side" last year...Still keep hoping he will get back to these roots and style of playing... What a talent....jlg... God Blessed this young man with the gift of music and the blissful pain of the blues... It pours out of every pore he embodies... And to be only 16 when this was recorded has the chops of those such as Buddy Guy, Muddy Waters, Gary Moore, and just a few others that I believe were not as talented as he is... I wish he would come back to these roots, although he is still very talented today, just a little more refined and defined... This was raw and real... An amazing celebration of the blues at such a young age... I have been watching and listening to him since the very beginning, and this is my favorite live show he performed. I got the chance to see him in Indianapolis at the vogue in 1998, and he was absolutely phenomenal, basically playing this same set... He opened for Little feet, and blew them off the stage... Maybe he peaked too young... But no one can say that this music will ever lose it's raw realness and life,pain, and hope... All parts of being alive...

I feel in love with this 'Kid' back in '97 and vocally campaigned to anyone who would listen about this phenomenal 16 year old who captured my soul and caught the ears of so many highly respected blues musicians. Started out as Kid Jonny Lang and the Big Bang. I saw him live in Indiana with Susan Tedeschi, another teenage incredulous talent (now married to Derek Trucks of the Allman Bros.), who opened for him and about lost it. Wish he would have stayed single and not gotten into finding God (my personal opinion, of course). Marriage to a model tends to distract so many great talents. Will still always love him, though he's "breakin' me".

It only takes good ears and a teacher to be kid johnny lang or monster mike whelsh or susan tedeschi. But its a different story to be Prince, the kid of cincinnatti or freddy king the texan bull or maybe jj cale, i don t know. When one doesn t make it in the industry it s nobody s fault. Maybe one should just work on a better new song better new album better singing better playing.

Raphael Beilvert Oui je l’ai vu en concert 6 fois et j’ai pu lui parler 3 fois. Il est super posé backstage alors que sur scène j’ai jamais vu un artiste plus impressionnant. A l’époque on avait fait un site de fans européens, on n’a plus le temps de gérer ça donc il est off maintenant.
