Im a developer And if i was to go off a limb here, the hotfix was simply to quickly stop more tbows from coming into the game until they figure out what was causing the bug. The Codebase for runescape is very very big and pinpointing the exact lines of code causing this bug takes time

Actually you're wrong about one thing - there HAS been previous errors with the map editor, aka the tree behind the yanille smith that stopped the clue spot being diggable, resulting in the tree being changed to a dead tree as a lil reference.

You weren’t banned for simply picking it up, you would have had to sell it AND use that gold to buy bonds and then redeem the bonds to get free membership. That’s what people were banned for. I remember this day. Idk what world I was on, but I was in the farming guild collecting my compost from the bin and I saw the bow spawn. I ran outside and grabbed it and then realized the bow kept spawning. I had 8 bows in my inventory before I left and sold them on the GE. Then they rolled back. And I didn't get banned. Good times.

RS private servers have a keychain attached to each location so when you drop an item or if an item is spawned/looted from an area it has let’s say #5 for varrock at the end of the items numerical value so they can see where people get loot or if glitches arise they can easily hotfix them. it’s really weird Jagex doesn’t implement this feature when i even use it on other games that i’ve made mods for to notice duplication glitches right away.

The beginning intro of this video hit way too close to home for me. I ran CoX pretty much every night for almost exactly one year (normal mode). Solo runs because expecting trust in osrs is a fools' errand. Now I'm not some utlra sweaty who can run world record time but I was averaging between 22-25 minutes a run. I do work a regular job so I really would get about 4-6 runs in a night, and on days off, I might be able to bang out 10-20 runs depending on my motivation. In the end, I never did get a Tbow to drop, I just made enough money off of chambers to just buy one at about 900 KC. Sure, I own one now but it still feels hollow never having it actually drop and even sadder, 900 KC still isn't actually enough in terms of average for one to drop.

RWT, spawning in items and selling them would be noticed very quickly as they would immediately track it back, stealing items and selling them would take longer to track down as it would appear that accounts were being hacked which is a much more common practice then a surge of high value items comming into circulation in the in game economy....
