Finally, an explanation for why everyone and their mother in RuneScape demands alcohol to proceed with a quest. They knew of its power! This also explains why one of my earliest memories of RS was Spinach Rolls being super rare and coveted for some mysterious reason, so when I overheard someone getting one from Trailborn (since we could all see the npc dialogue) I was like "zomg how did you do that?" (pretty sure I either hadn't started the quest or finished it already, no spinach rolls for me.) Sidenote that quirk about talking to npcs was also the reason why most banks to this day in older areas have a whole bunch of bankers instead of something like a bank chest. Sometimes we even had clones of the same quest npc for popular quests, like a bunch of gnome kings in Tree Gnome Stronghold.

Drunk people are actually more likely to survive serious accidents because they don't have the reaction time to brace for impact, so that part is kinda true. But they'll still be a million times easier to hit. It would be like the black knight from Monty python. What I'm saying is, defence should still go down, but hit points should go up. Make it so that an 85 from an ags won't kill them on 60% hp with no other hp boosts. Or just reduce all damage by 10-30% at random.

​@eugenesis8188 Defense in RS doesn't effect the accuracy of enemies. So there's no reason to reduce the defense of the target. The original comment was right. It should reduce your accuracy due to being intoxicated, it should increase your strength due to being liquid courage, and because defense because they don't feel pain. Increasing HP? Alcohol isn't healthy. Too much of it will kill you. Me personally, I smoke weed because I usually get sick drinking. So.. how does alcohol increase my hp when all it really does it kill me?

I recall when the quest "While Guthix Sleeps" first released in late 2008, after touching the stone of jas, all of your combat stats boost up to 250 to fight the tormented demons. Finding out about this glitch makes that detail in the quest make a whole lot more funnier as to why they chose that number boost in the quest. I really hope they make it like that again when it gets ported over to OSRS in the summer.

It was boosted to 255, and the reason for that is that 255 is the highest value in an 8 bit integer.
