How many quarts did you finally use for your car? In the Jaguar workshop manual it says to use 7.71 quarts engine oil with oil cooler and 6.87 for engine oil without oil cooler.

I have a Jaguar XJR, what specific oil should I use? Because you have three in the links and I want to make sure I’m buying the correct one, I was thinking buying the high mileage. It has 141,115 mileage 😬 Also, if you mix the oils, would that be bad? Like for an example you mix 0W-30 and 10W-30?

Oil Filter gasket on drain plug appears to be a problem. So, instead, use a copper washer as the Gasket.

How long had that oil been in there. Looks like mud, or latte. I’ve never seen that. Maybe because of the bright light?
@ejsgarage4 жыл бұрын
It was there for 10 months. It was the 2nd oil change that I did too the Jag. You should see the video on the 1st one. It was worse because the car was not taken care of by the previous owners.
@alphastone83624 жыл бұрын
It seems that there’s a lot of gunk in there to be flushed out. How about transmission? Would you be flushing that as well?
@ejsgarage4 жыл бұрын
I did an engine flush during the 1st oil change, it looks like it needs another engine flush to get rid of the carbon build up. I am going to change the transmission fluid next. I have to do it one at a time because I have a Porsche Cayenne Turbo that I need to restore.

Have you had any experience with the 1999 Vanden Plas ? I found one for 65,000miles and they are asking 7,500$
@ejsgarage4 жыл бұрын
That is a good price. Vanden Plas is basically an XJR without the supercharger. I like the tables in the back seats 😃
@Chowcago4 жыл бұрын
@@ejsgarage Me too! The tables are a must for me. It does have two problems, 1. the cooling hoses need to be replaced and 2. When you lock the doors, the car alarm goes off after a few hours. Got any experience with these problems?
@ejsgarage4 жыл бұрын
I will ask an indepedent Jaguar mechanic if I were you and ask him how much it costs to fix both issues.
@lewisfirth52424 жыл бұрын
@@Chowcago drain coolant from radiator, (lose about half/half stays in the system, replace the hoses. Check all plastic connectors as they become brittle over time. Check the thermostat tower has been replaced for a metal one. Also check and maybe replace water pump, as original ones fail and cause overheats/engine damage. The alarm fault could be a faulty SLM (security locking module) or just a weak battery can cause many electrical gremlins on these older jags

How about the air suspension? Are you not worried about that?
@ejsgarage4 жыл бұрын
The 2004 to 2010 have the air suspensions, my 2002 does not have it. My 2004 XJR had that issue.
@alphastone83624 жыл бұрын
So would you recommend staying away from those with air suspension to avoid costly repairs?
@ejsgarage4 жыл бұрын
I will stay clear the Jag 2004 to 2010, the air suspension cost was around $5000 to $7000 to replace
@lewisfirth52424 жыл бұрын
The jaguar oil filters have an important return valve in them, some aftermarket do not have that. Use jaguar parts wherever available. Great video buddy, liked and subscribed! It annoys me how people don't do basic maintenance too!
