The parrot's story sounds a lot like the Japanese legend of Momotaro-san. An old Japanese couple found a giant peach in the river near their house and took it home to eat, but when the cut it open there was a baby boy inside. They named the boy Momotaro which I think has something to do with peaches. When he was older, around young adult age, a nearby island of Oni (Japanese word for demons) started attacking Japan, so Momotaro decided to go fight the Oni. On the way he met and befriended a dog, a bird, and a monkey and through The Power of Friendship (tm) they were able to defeat the Oni. It's a pretty popular legend. (Thanks to Red Hood and SpirittheStarryWolf for corrections)

The story the bird was telling is an actual Japanese story about a old couple that got a kid from a rock. This kid was special, a little on that later. There was an ogre that was harassing the village so, the kid decided to get rid of the ogre because again he was special kid that came from a rock. On the way to the orges den, the kid met up with a monkey, a wolf, and some other animal I don’t remember, that decided to join the kid on his journey. The kid gets rid of the orge, and that’s where the story ends.

Fun fact: the "cutie" hamster actually looks like a Roborovskij breed hamster. I've had a couple of those, they were shy and it took me a while to get them comfortable enough to eat from my hand. They were adorable though.
