The fact that Selena was 15 at the time and Drew Seeley (Joey) was 26 years old at the time this movie was released honestly kept me from ever enjoying this movie. I was really into Tiger Beat and all of those magazines like that at the time, when I found out both of their ages (even though I was only around 12 or 13), I was like.. 😳😬

What grosses me out is that Drew Seeley is 10 years and 3 months older than Selena Gomez...meaning he was 26 and she was 16 🤢 I remember watching this when it first came out and thinking how unique and cool it was....now I'm just cringing. 100% true that Drew Seeley was the singing voice of Troy in the first HSM only, he even wrote Getcha Head in the Game. He’s a tenor belting out those high Breaking Free notes, while Efron is a baritone.

@@meganjaime7728 no that was the excuse they gave as to why he couldn’t do the live tour for HSM, but I don’t buy that lol he just didn’t want to be going on a tour lipsynching to Drew’s voice so used Hairspray as a scapegoat. No one knew who Zac was until HSM came out, he got the role in Hairspray because of HSM’s success.

The songs in the first HSM were written before casting and Zac couldn’t hit the notes so Drew filled in. Since he was the real singer he did the cast tour with the others. The other movies they wrote the songs in Zac’s key so he could actually sing them. (I may have been a bit obsessed with Drew Seeley back in the day lol and somehow still remember these things)

For High School Musical 1, they took Drew Seeleys voice and mixed it with Zac's, but I believe most of it was Drew's voice. But after HSM1 all of the singing for Troy Bolton is Zac. They made songs with notes that he was actually able to do. Why they didn't do it to begin with, I don't know.

Well,99% of film adaptations of Cinderella are solely based on Disney's 1950 version. Perrault's version in terms of characters and themes is completely different of Disney's, Perrault's Cendrillon starts out as pessimistic and self loathing ,but as the story progresses she becomes more outgoing and sarcastic ... The sister's not recognising her at the ball makes sense since the story highlights how Cinderella regardless of what she's wearing ( be it a ball gown,or rags ) she threats her sister's with kindness and compassion While her sister's talk about the mystery girl ( Cinderella ) with the kindest and wonderment and in the same breath mock and laugh at her for asking a dress to join them tomorrow. Anyway, point being Disney's version is a unique take on the story and the themes , Cinderella being an optimistic dreamer is a Disney addition ... Also Cinderella was never an orphan,in Perrault's tale it's mentioned that if she dared to complain to her father about the mistreatment he would no doubt have scolded her ,for his new wife governed him entirely.There are many aspects of the plot of Cinderella that are based in outdated old timey cultural and societal norms that Perrault and the Grimm's used to tell the story ... Like,the stepmother was actually right on not wanting Cinderella to go to the ball since historically speaking there were rules about etiquette, formal wear , dancing skills ( which you had to be trained to know how to dance, everything was veeery formal ) ,even where you sat on the table was determined by your social status . Cinderella was veeery unprepared for such an occasion she wasn't even invited cause the ball was for mobility and above,the sister's being "ugly" also was something that was added in the early 20th century.If you look illustrations from the 17th,18th,19th centuries they were waaaay more beautiful than she was ( which was also a detail Perrault's version highlighted when saying that "Despite her coars appeal she was a thousand times more beautiful than her sister's, even though they had the best hairdos and latest fashion dresses. ) ... The plot point of the ball ,in a modern retelling of the tale can be axxed off ,the only thing that can be directly translated into modern day is : An abused girl , living with an abusive step family and neglectful dad and through a friend she meets she frees herself from that abusive environment . There are soooo Many versions of the tale with completely different takes on both the story , lessons and characters.Disney's is the most popular and well known version,but this as well as many folktales have so many different versions and limitless potential

The best modern Cinderella story ever in my opinion is 2018's Not Cinderella's Type, because it actually focuses on the mistreatment of the Cinderella character instead of just being about the romance. Which, to my knowledge, no other Cinderella movie, not even the ones that directly copy the fairytale itself, has done.

Anyway, it’s a weird combo of big budget, bad acting, and weird timing so I thought of you.
