This whole movie RADIATES sunday school church play. Like the staging. The acting. The choreography. The awkward scenes between songs clearly just written to get us from one song to the other with no narrative cohesion. From what I remember seeing, they actually started Kidz Bop with the focus of making family friendly music "for the kids," and the first several albums had exclusively *adults* singing the main parts with kids sometimes acting as backup or chorus, but often not starring at all. I don't remember when they made the switch to using all kids in their cast but I do remember listening to an older song and recognizing a voice actor who later was in Steven Universe... as Steven's Dad.
