I love how honest this was, it wasn’t about showing off your equipment. It was just exactly what every start up filmmaker needs to hear. As much as I enjoy the KZbin filmmakers with the large subscriber fan bases, all of their reviews are sponsored by brands and therefore their reviews aren’t as honest. This was really humbling to see and just shows that the story is everything!! Favourite KZbinr currently, thank you for this!

Most people simply haven't developed the eye you have for great shots. You've also got a unique color grade and edit style that really make it your own. I'd love to see a behind the scenes of how you make a little short one minute video. How you choose what focal length and camera placement for the action you're capturing.

Other than a Casey Neistat video I saw a few years back, this is the first time I've seen a content creator (who isn't doing a review) speak of the Canon 80D (which is also the camera that I shoot on). Sometimes I'll get weird comments on my equipment and it not being good enough, and you have no idea how much I needed to hear what you said today. It was great seeing another 80D shooter. Wow dude, I am so glad this was recommended to me! Clicked on for so many reasons - van life, minimalist living, gear talk and stayed for the awesome video. What striked me the most is the gear you have - I almost have the exact same gear. Having watched thousands of gear videos haha, I've never heard of anyone having 80d these days anymore (bigger channels having more high end gear.) Also other freelancers have been impressed with my client work and they are always shocked to hear, when I tell them I shoot on 80d, asking is it good enough compared to A7III etc. On the same note one of my recent videos went more viral and everybody is asking on what i shot it on, and I keep telling the same thing, one of the most cheapest and basic setups - 80d and Sigma 10-20mm f3.5 and find myself adding that you really can shoot beautiful stuff on a very simple setup. Awesome video!

Well done Jake. Its so good and important, to motivate other filmmakers, that it is all about the story and passion. If one is only thinking about the equipment the filmmaker use, the story is not good enough. I think the one thing most people do not understand is that the camera and lenses do not need to be the best or even close to the best. With that said the one thing that you do need is editing software and a desktop or laptop that can handle video editing and that will usually cost more than your camera and your lens.
