I was a stoic, 60 year-old man when I heard this song for the first time, four months after my father passed. I cried harder than I ever had before, and I still get very emotional every time I watch someone react to it. Yours was a genuine, heartbreaking reaction, and I cried right along with you.

Me too brother. I grew up in a nightmare existence because of my dad. When he passed I felt nothing (2011) not until I encountered this song. I found some forgiveness to a man who had his monsters too, only there was no help for him like there was for me. this song breaks me every time I hear it.

Most emotional song I’ve ever heard in my life, hands down. First heard it as a 33 year old man I just started sobbing uncontrollably. We’ve all heard some powerful tracks in music but this one just hit sooooo hard when it came out. Just a beautiful song that so many can relate to. Great reaction. When ever I watch this and are not able to see clearly because of the tears I need to remind myself that James sang this as a goodbye to his dad but he actually saved his life. Because of this song a distant relative shows up as a donor and because of this song his dad stayed with him alive and well.

He doesn't force us to listen, but rather compels us to pay greater attention to the lyrics and the story. The emotion resonates long after the song ends. Simply heartrending and beautiful. No one is truely ever gone when we continue to hold them in our hearts. ✨💖🌹🙏🏻🇺🇸

This amazing , powerful and emotional song always get's me choked up no matter how many times I watch the video. All those of us who never got to say a proper goodbye to our dads (or mums) have their hearts ripped out by this song, and remember, he refused to use 'Auto-Tune' because he wanted the whole thing to be 100% real, raw and genuine. James and his dad were both former UK military guys, and served in Kosovo. I heard that James donated all the proceeds of this video to the UK charity 'Help For Heroes' who do so much wonderful work for ex-servicemen & women here in the UK, and God bless him for that. What a man!

I appreciate your review and your sharing your experience. James Blunt has away of uniting people with shared experiences. He is a great singer songwriter and reviews such as yours are a testament to the power of his music. I was with my Dad sitting on the floor when he passed away waiting for the ambulance. They revived him but he died on the way to the hospital. I home hospiced my mom during covid with stage 4 cancer and I feel blessed to spend that last year holding her hand and heart. Our tears are a way to heal our hearts. No greater tribute to the impact someone had in our lives.

James's dad who had only recently been diagnosed with stage 4 kidney disease and was not expected to survive, although they did eventually find a donor and he made it. Both James and his dad are former officers in the British military. First time I heard this was 3 days after my Dad passed away and it broke me I lost my Dad 4 years ago this August after he fell and hit his head sadly he didn't survive it caused a bleed on his brain I sadly never had the chance to tell him I loved him and that hurts but i know he is at peace now.

I don't know where this got started about this being the first time his dad heard it. James have talked about this on multiple interviews and that is not what happened. This was not the first time his dad heard it. This song is so good that it doesn't need this added fake story. I assume you think this is true as many people do, as it has sort of spread as a part of this story.

Hi there. I just found your channel and wanted to say that I like what you do because you do it so well (especially your reaction videos). I don’t know if you heard after you. Did this particular reaction video to James Blunt but his father is on the mend and he’s doing very well now. In the video, that was his real dad, and apparently the lyrics were written by Jameses sister. On a lighter note. Did you know that James blunt actually put his sister on eBay? LOL. There’s a long story behind it but it wasn’t out of sibling rivalry. He did it as a favour for her. Please keep your videos coming because I really enjoy them. Please take care of yourself and blessings to you from England.

It was also the very first time his father had heard or read any of the melody or lyrics. They were his father’s first reactions. It’s also a song that saved his life. Gets me every time, especially the monsters line and calling his father “daddy”. Daddy can be seen a rather juvenile term, but it cuts to the core of how he sees himself with his father.

I love this video. Thank you for your open reaction Jacqueline. I lost my father 15 years ago but only heard the song 3 years ago. It had huge impact on me just as a song. Seeing this video a year later was a huge bonus. Just a masterpiece in my opinion. But it was a collaboration, so my hat is off to everyone involved. What a gift to us all who must live through such. I am adding links to other songs that I think are incredible. Some are actually just instrumentals. Maybe not appropriate for reaction. Not sure, but just wanting so share them: On the last one... I think some bad choices were made in making the otherwise incredible video... but would be interested in hearing a woman's perspective on that. Four very different songs here: 1) Pink Floyd - David Gilmour's guitar solo on "Comfortably Numb" in concert. 2) "Classical Gas" by Mason Williams; also an instrumental. 3) "Somethin' in the Air" by Mike Younger: A song lost to the decades that I think should be revived with a video attached. 4) "The Bluest Blues". Alvin Lee on lead guitar and George Harrison on slide guitar. I am going to try to promote these songs everywhere. I hope this is appropriate. 1) kzbin.info/www/bejne/m3mueGp7gt2KjZo 2) kzbin.info/www/bejne/e3bdqqWmm9eDe6s 3) kzbin.info/www/bejne/ZpDShYuAn9-kpcU 4) kzbin.info/www/bejne/aZ3dZKOuacmHi5o

After finding this song 1 day ago, I cannot stop watching and I can't stop crying. This is what it is to be human, life just comes down to the closeness of people from the first breath to our last. Somehow we get lost in chasing the 'things' and do not invest enough in our humanity. Now I am going to find anther persons reaction and subject myself to my reactions to this song.

This is my first time ever hearing this song. This song is hauntingly sad ! I guarantee you most people who hear and listen to this song will cry,. This is one of the most powerful song I have ever heard. The most emotional part of this clip for me is at 7:27 - 7:28 when he says " time is gone" You can hear the pain , sorrow and heart break in his voice , and on his face. I know what he is feeling at the moment of the video. Listen to his tone when he said " time is gone ". His expression and tone not only show sadness , but some anger at time itself. He is angry that time didn't slow down for him. He wants to go back in time to re live the memories he had with his father.

This one here is a for-sure tearjerker it's really sad when it comes close to the last words and that's actually his dad they're sitting behind him or beside him and he reaches his hand over and puts it on his arm I don't know how he didn't just start bawling like crazy I absolutely love this song I wish I would have known this was out cuz I lost my dad three years ago I would have had this played at his funeral
