My wife had our daughter when we were close to 40 and every time we went to the doctor they'd say, "We still don't know if the pregnancy is going to go to term. We just have to wait and see." I was a wreck for the whole pregnancy, but I never let my wife no I was worried. I tried to be positive and supportive and when she was born and healthy I was so relieved. This song breaks my heart. I can only imagine what losing my daughter would feel like.

This story is true - his wife had a miscarriage which was a little girl. This was after they had 2 healthy boys. They decided that they would not try again as the pain of the loss of the little girl was too much for them to take the risk again.

I have a love/hate with this song. James is gifted in telling stories about real life and the trials he has been through. In my case it wasn't a miscarriage, my 1st wife and daughter were murdered. That kind of pain is beyond next level.

This tore me apart. I am blessed with 6 kids. I lost 3 pregnancies (one of which was twins). I always blamed myself, that does not go away. I'm 68 and my husband has been my person through it all. My 6 kids fill my heart with so much love. I just know I have 4 babies with beautiful names in heaven that hold pieces of my heart.

Not always, but if it's written by James Blunt there's always a good chance it will be, Monsters is testament to that. 😂 James Blunt is the master of emotional impactful songs. Another song of his to check out is 'No Bravery' which links to his time in the armed forces in Kosovo and has a very moving video and is still as relevant today as when it was first written.
