One thing i've noticed about Colbert is when a guest is talking and they've reaching the end of the their story he'll just completely change the subject and move on to something else without acknowledging what they said. It makes it seem like he doesn't care what they are talking about - which i'm sure is the case, but as a talk show host he could at least make an effort to seem like he cares what his guest has to say. I've seen this behavior in multiple interviews. He won't even pretend to laugh or comment on anything they have to say. He just says, "Well, we have to move on". Or he'll just change the subject suddenly. I like Stephen Colbert, but I haven't been a fan of the way he's been conducting his interviews lately. He has some interesting guests, but he doesn't seem to care about them or what they have to say.

I wonder how much of that is the nature of talk shows itself because time is short and they have to keep moving. But I do agree, it looks very abrupt with Colbert. Not only is it rather rude but it's also jarring to watch. Do you think those bits are where they have edited out a few seconds to get to the meat of the conversation?

LDNeye I think that Colbert has conversations instead of interviews. It took me a while to realize it. He doesn't laugh when people say something offensive or uninteresting. I think he is trying to stay true to himself and perhaps, maybe, not compromise. Oftentimes, when watching other talk show host, I find their constant laughter and kissing up disingenuous. The talk show game is full of pre-planned questions, that it is nice to see people actually fumbling through conversation. That's just my two cents. Have a great day!☺
