James Newton Howard is undoubtedly one of the greatest film score composers and has written scores in a wide variety of musical styles. I can't believe he has never won an Academy Award for any of his films (though he has been nominated nine times). In his early days he was keyboardist in Elton John's band and appeared on four of his albums.

James Newton Howard's score really captures the epic scope of this great film, as well as holding the essence of what musical scores for westerns have been over the decades (even just thinking of excerpts of 'Back to the future, Part III' as a comparison). Bravo JNH 🎼👏🏾♥️👍🏾

@SuperRod88 You gotta be crazy. This is ten times more historically accurate than, "Tombstone". It's an interesting look into the whole life of Wyatt Earp, and not just the events of Tombstone. I love both films, but this is inclinded more with what I love, and that's historical epics.
@amethyst70844 жыл бұрын
I'm with you there. 'Tombstone' is a more 'in your face' action-type of film with louder noise levels, and more over-the-top acting. 'Wyatt Earp' is more measured in its performances, and spotlights its female characters more too. Gene Hackman was great, and Dennis Quaid was quite literally outstanding. As you also mention, 'Wyatt Earp' has more detail about Wyatt's early life and his family.

Tombstone is, in my opinion, a movie for children. Wyatt Earp is a great movie. Not perfect, of course but superior than Tombstone. I'll never understand that Dennis Quaid didn't win an Oscar for his performance, a very powerful performance of Doc Holliday.

@@anthonycampos8057 It doesn't say it all, in fact it says nothing that matters. What draws crowds is almost never a measure of quality. See Michael Bay movies & marvel. The popcorn munching mental dialtones such as yourself like bright colors and noise. That pretty much says it all.
