I think he's depressed. He just did the first couple of avgn videos for fun and never meant for it to be a series but he really wanted to make movies. So he uses the nerd character to help him get to his goal and makes the Avgn movie as a gateway to his dreams. Then the Avgn movie turns out to be a piece of crap and kills any hope of James ever achieving his dream of making movies. So now he's stuck making videos he doesn't want to make because they are the only thing he does that people care about. It must really bother James that something he did as a joke got popular and made him successful but things he made with genuine passion have been mostly ignored.

@David Nash I agree with you to an extent. I just want to see some quality content that he is passionate about. Rex Viper is not really quality content, especially when the only alternatives on this channel, that made its name with AVGN and Monster Madness, are videos that are not worth seeing. I wouldn't even mind if he did movie reviews or something similar every so often, but poored his heart into them and delivered more genuine content. I don't want a bunch of AVGN episodes, I don't want a bunch of low effort Rental Reviews, and I don't want a deflated podcast with uninteresting personalities. I just want high effort, quality content from a passionate man I once revered. My favorite video of his to this day is Cinemassacre 200. That was fantastic. When he is passionate about a video, it comes through in its quality. The only thing he is passionate about seems to be Rex Viper, but he hasn't developed a skill level in music even nearing that of his filmmaking endeavors. So it's just not the same. I would sincerely be fine with 2-3 videos a year if they were really great. One of my favorite channels is Gaming Brit, and he doesn't upload that often, but when he does, the videos are quality content. Many are my favorite video game reviews on KZbin. I wish James would do something similar, I have to figure that money shouldn't be too much of an issue for him all these years later, but I guess I don't know that myself.

@Whoa8022 жыл бұрын
Listen, I don't expect a lot of James' fans to know this, given how most of them seem to be guys in their 20's and 30's, but being a parent takes a lot more out of you than you'd think. You can choose to do the bare minimum and leave most of the work to the mom or nanny if you want, but an actual father who cares would know to spend as much time as possible with them when he isn't working. When you have a family, your main motivation to work should be to provide for your kids, and when you are in a good enough financial situation to be able to afford working less to spend quality time with them, I think that's a perfectly reasonable trade off. When you compare that to my dad, for instance, who was always out working to provide for the family when I was young, it only makes me wish my dad was could've been more like James, as I hardly have what I'd call a strong emotional bond with him. I'd especially appreciate it, if me or one of my siblings suffered from birth complications growing up that may have possibly hindered physical/cognitive development, just like one of James' kids. Not saying Rolfe is perfect, but I fail to see why so many fans have problems grasping why his quality/rate of output has taken something of a dip recently amidst all these other things he's got going in his life.

You said it yourself: 'You're the fuckin' Nerd!' he has no passion for it anymore, his true passion was filmmaking and he screwed the pooch on that one. James wants the benefits and cashflow of the job, but not the actual work, but since his wife is living comfortably thanks to his income, he can't just leave. So now he outsources those Screenwave goofs to do all the work for him. At least Doug Walker actually loves movies.

Jesus christ why do people do this? Every time it's popular to hate on someone, people suddenly go kiss the ass of someone who was recently thrown under fire and magically forget all the drama they stirred up. It's so goddamn annoying. Similar shit happened when AVGN was going downhill and after all of Mike's scandals, people had to start saying "well Mike isn't even this bad" after they had just gotten done talking about what a despicable human he is. Another example: when Idubbbz shit all over leafy and everyone blasted his channel it looked like he was done but then when Idubbbz defended his girlfriends OnlyFans account suddenly people started sucking off Leafy again. Idk why people do this. It's possible to dislike and criticize both. But I can tell you when one fucks up, it doesn't suddenly make the other a messiah. You seriously come across as flip-floppy, insincere, and just following the herd.
@Tehkums2 жыл бұрын
@@blind_surgeon Honestly, my respect for Doug grew _because_ of the controversy. When he had people knocking down his door he ignored it for months until it all went away. And now he's doing fine, again. He's a shrewd man who employed business acumen that most rarely apply themselves to, usually because they wish to save their own egos. When I just think about all the content creators that have nuked themselves by saying too much (Spoony), Doug said nothing, as he understands how mercurial the internet is. People have always talked about whether or not this would work, but few have actually tried it, just cause it's perceived as risky. Gotta give the guy credit for it. Incidentally, Doug is just a workhorse. He gives his audience exactly what they want every time, on time.
