I sang this for 10 hours straight the night on my guitar to my dog Brody who lay dying, it was the only thing that calmed her breathing. A truly horrible moment in my life sweetened by music. I still struggle to listen to this to this day.

Life is so hectic, but James Taylor is one of only a handful of recording artists/singers that put me at peace almost immediately. So glad he’s been and always will be a part of my musical life. ‘Love Always’ 1 John 4:8

Oh the memories this evokes. I was just 16 and my husband worked the graveyard shift. I'd stay up all night so we could keep the same hours and sleep together when he came home. I'd sit at the kitchen table all night and draw and paint listening to James Taylor and Jackson Brown... I did my best art work listening them. So young and in love.. full of life's passion. Where did it go... My husband died 18 months ago and James Taylor always reminds me of those bright early magic days.

You have to love the ease with which he pours out music. The guitar, the smooth voice -- the way it seems as natural as breathing to him. No howling guitars, screaming vocals, or on-stage hysterics. (Not saying those are bad things -- just that those are not what add such huge value to his art.) James Taylor's art is the musical equivalent of "comfort food". It's not surprising to read so many comments from people who feel like his music relates to them. KZbin videos tend to crop it out, but if you have ever seen a full-length concert, you know that he is also really good to his musicians and singers. He makes it a point to introduce them, and allow them to shine. Check out their performance of Shower the People live at the Beacon Theatre, where he lets Arnold McCuller take the solo, and he sings backup for him. How many artists do that today? Truly a class act, this guy.

Actually, funny thing. James wanted to name the song 'I Feel Fine', but since he was contracted to Apple records and the Beatles had a song by the same name, he changed it to 'Something in the Way She Moves'. George Harrison heard James perform this song in the Apple studio. George thought it was beautiful, and it inspired him to write the song 'Something'. And George was right to be inspired... what a beautiful song it is.

I saw James on the same tour in San Sebastián in Spain. I agree with you, his voice is still gorgeous. And so is he .... in the interval he sat on the edge of the stage, chatted with fans, gave autographs and obliged with selfies. I was lucky to have a minute with him to myself as everyone got called back to their seats. He was truly gracious and left me with a smile and a kiss on the cheek. Ah, fond memories.
