Whoa.. Bryan is ex mormon. As someone who was excommunicated at 17 y/o for apostasy, I am even more invested in seeing his success. I've been criticised for aiming to maintain my bodily purity, as if it were some type hangover from Mormon indocrination, but to me it is just the logical and loving way to be towards my body. I tried the bad food and the alcohol...and that was a recipe for misery. I very much listen to my intuition... But I think approaching things with this scientific method is so useful and has inspired me to keep moving towards my own health goals.I love the data collection. This is a fascinating experiment. I would love to see humanity as healthy and as joyful as possible. Thanks Bryan! And thanks for this interview James!

11:45 thank you Bryan for your generously sharing this valuable trailblazed information. Have been adopting Blueprint for the past month, strictly too and have never felt this incredible in my life (stronger, more mentally acute, creative, calm, social. My cardio and sexual performance had the biggest improvement). That old evening Dan came in and convinced me to celebrate a work achievement and staying on this protocol with some Chinese food - I feel like absolute shit, poisoned and bloated. Definitely determined now to stick to the protocol now more than ever.

@43 min on sleep tips: I can attest to those tips. If I eat within 3 hours of bed time I can readily see the negative effects on my Oura data and how I feel the next day. Same with alcohol, although and a single drink with my meal seems to be OK most nights, but I rarely drink any more. One thing that I haven't delt with is my dog who sleeps on my bed. I know she wakes me by moving around or crowds me, but don't have the heart to crate her. I also agree based on my experience; the psychological benefits of good sleep are enormous.

I've had okay results with a nightcap, but you are 100% right on the food - All the well farting etc and whatever goes on while sleeping fucks with my quality. Had anxiety (over work and relationships) and the nightcaps coupled with audio ASMR or reading a book has helped me GET to sleep after which the quality at least improved overnight, rather than having no sleep till 2-3 AM.

Bryan Johnson doesn't distinguish the fact that his mind is also telling him to follow his new protocol and to get healthy. Completely demonizing the mind in its totality is an inaccurate way of describing the more primitive aspects of the mind from what can be called our higher selves. Self mastery, which has never been easy, is the goal. It makes me sad to see younger generations giving up on this and thinking AI should control their lives because human minds are too primitive. The human mind can do things that a machine will never be able to replicate no matter how advanced the programming, because the mind surpasses programming. I realize this idea is not in vogue with most academics.

Almost all people think that their mind/awareness is one being. It is not ! There is a very large/vast committee in our head - makes sense since we have 100 billion neurons, millions of complex separated regions. And there are parts of our own brain that are not our friend (such as choiceless addictions that don't give a damn about us long-term). If a person is lucky, they find their true decisive survivor.

"No one else is doing it better than Blueprint"... (?). There are always greater people doing things, to be encountered. In ...The Quest for Healthy Longevity, the protocol is three meals per week. Basically a 46 hour fast, three times a week along with a 70 hour weekly fast being sustainable (key word, sustainable). This quest approach heavily competes with Blueprint, in extending life span and health span....

@@CheapSushi It's meaningless because he chooses which markers he measures. For example, he doesn't measure DHT, estrogen, prolactin levels, even if they are important for normal cognitive functioning due to him crashing his DHT levels to keep hair. He also has to take steroids and GH to be able to run his nonsense protocol due to it being so unhealthy and is essentially infertile for this same reason. Not to mention all the mental side effects. He is either delusional, or a fraud. "+ Free testosterone index (FTI) biological age reduced 20 years" He writes this on his website when his protocol makes him impotent and he has to take exogenous hormones to have that level. I liked Bryan at first, but the inconsistencies keep piling up and I'm now convinced he does this purely for clout or money.

It's time consuming on his side because him and his team are doing everything they can to make things miserable and text different theories, etc. He's trying to figure out what works and what doesn't, what's worth doing or not, etc. It doesn't mean every single thing he is doing is necessary or worth it. But he's testing as much as he can to figure that out. The actual Blueprint won't be as time consuming.

Sure, we have to counteract entropy to survive but this doesn't result in aging. The entropy of two people with same mass are virtually the same with differences arsing from the degrees of freedom of the water molecules. There are species on this planet that don't age (a species of Jellyfish, hydra, planaria). If entropy caused aging then this wouldn't be possible.
