OoT's Water temple is by far the best designed and most cohesive dungeon in that game. It plays like poetry. Its only two flaws are: 1) That the boots take too long to put on and take off (which is more a fault of the game in general rather than the temple), and 2) That one single key in the bottom middle room is too easy to miss.
@NoshuHyena8 жыл бұрын
I'm glad they fixed it. And didn't they fix the other problem too? Like they zoomed the camera in to show you the opened path or something?
@Sifer28 жыл бұрын
Yeah considering 3D was still "new" in that era it's an impressively designed dungeon that takes full advantage of it. I think most complained just because it was genuinely are pretty challenging dungeon, and like mentioned switching the boots is a pain.

@MrYTGuy18 жыл бұрын
When people say that "stranger things have happened". This show is the type of $#!+ they are talking about. You don't know $#!+ about $#!+ until you've hidden from a monster in your backyard fort, had some slimy thing crawl out of your mouth, glimpsed another dimension, taken a mallet to your kitchen wall, climbed in a cubby hole and talked to your christmas lights. But in all seriousness, I thoroughly enjoyed stranger things. As an 80's aficionado I was taken aback to hear james' take on the show. The story, setting and characters all felt authentically 80's to me. Even though yes, as james stated, the show was shot in hd. With that being said, the resolution isn't really the criteria in which I judge the 80s-ness of the show. An 80's movie that's been up-ressed to 1080p and cleaned up real nice still feels 80s to me for reasons totally unrelated to the resolution and quality of the picture. Its more to do with the choice of photography, stylization, the settings, story, ,characters, acting, etc. This also kind of sounds like a classic case where the show was over hyped to james via social media. I went in with no expectations except that a friend who also loves 80s stuff said it was interesting. That's about the perfect level of hype to go into this with. Just expect it to be interestingly 80s-like and enjoy the ride. Most or all the classic 80s kid movie tropes are fulfilled in the show. Chunky kid, check. nerdy kid, check. kid that talks funny, check. token minority kid, check. kid that loves old horror movies, check. kid with magic powers, check. completely clueless adults, check. While its not the best thing ever made, I disagree that its just as good as everything else out there to watch. Mainly because all the other stuff is mostly crap. I've seen a lot of everything else and the vast majority if absolutely atrocious to try and actually sit through. I binged this whole show in 2 days because it was so enjoyable. 99.99% of stuff to watch simply doesn't do that for me, so this definitely stood out from the crowd. So you could certainly be watching many things that are quite a bit worse than this. The story is solid enough on its own, but with an added nostalgia factor due to the setting that took it over the top for me.

The Stranger Things poster was done by a guy called Kyle Lambert, and it's very reminiscent in style to Drew Struzan, the guy who made all the Star Wars, Indiana Jones, and basically other most famous movie posters. He created a style that invokes really huge nostalgia with people, because it's associated with the most classic movies of all time, that's why the marketing was so effective.

I don't give a crap if Stranger Things is brand new or 100 years old. That has nothing to do with most people liking it. It was a good story with lots of nostalgia, good acting and suspense. I'm the same age as those kids and that totally felt like it was 1983, more than anything I've seen in the modern era. I've seen retro done shitty, and Stranger Things is retro done right. Re; Same world Weeeeeeeeellll, actually no: the Dark World is the Sacred Realm (which may or may not also be Skyloft), just corrupted. In Link Between Worlds, you only visit the Hylean sacred realm for the last scene of the game. Lowrule is just a parallel universe altogether, with it's own Sacred Realm, that just so happens to look almost exactly like the corrupted Sacred Realm (sans the Silent Hill chasms).
@inputfunny8 жыл бұрын
I thought A Link Between Worlds was fun, but my biggest problem was how easy it was. I can only remember 1 puzzle that made me think for a minute or 2. The puzzles also felt very self-contained; they didn't feel very intricate like when you have to go to different areas to figure out 1 puzzle; instead I remember the puzzles usually being able to be completed by staying in 1 room. Buying the items you needed wasn't very good in my opinion since it took away your satisfaction of finding big items in the dungeons for the most part. It wasn't a very rewarding or satisfying game to me, so I'd probably give it a 6 or 7 out of 10.
@inputfunny8 жыл бұрын

They clearly got the vibe, but didn't think it was amazing. I'm inclined to agree. It was a good show, but nothing absolutely amazing. It's basically 90% nostalgia. It's the "Only 80's kids will remember this!" of TV shows. Almost feels like it should have been on VH1 instead of Netflix.
@bucwhovian83058 жыл бұрын
I think James has got the wrong end of the stick with the whole "it feels like a 80's movie" thing. They don't in the way that it was shot, they mean in terms of the story taking a lot from stories that were written in the 80's. The effects and the camaras they use is modern, but that does mean it can't still feel like the 80's in terms of tone. Also has anyone made a This is Spinal Tap joke about that show yet? You know ..."These go to eleven"...there has got to be some sort of joke you can make!
@bucwhovian83058 жыл бұрын

Everyone was telling me to watch Stranger Things and when I did, I found it started really fun and interesting, but the further and further in I got, the more I found that people acted severely weird. From super scared one moment to "fight mode" the next. They find the most creepy, disgusting things and decide to explore just like that, which felt unrealistic as balls. They can be worried about something big (Which is good) but then have absolutely no worries in other situation, making it all feel disjointed to me. But I'm in the small minority when it comes to that show, most people I know loved it and disagree with me :P

The Demogorgon in Stranger Things was a costume I believe. So it wasn't CG. Not all of it at least. I'm pretty sure they made it as real as possible. It did have a grain put over it after being filmed. Obviously not too much of a grain, so it didn't look really odd in HD. I really enjoyed Stranger Things and I don't really like TV shows. I think the only show I have enjoyed other than Stranger Things is Breaking Bad. I think Stranger Things has a lot hidden in it and it is very rare to see such convincing young actors. I thought it was very good. I think people killed it for you. If you watched it before everyone said "GO WATCH IT" I think you might have enjoyed it more.

People might be way into the newest thing but we are on a HUGE nostalgia trip right now too. So much old stuff coming back. Not that it's entirely bad. I like a mix.

I absolutely agree with James on Stranger Things. Completely overrated.

"I bet this boss tastes like a breaded mushroom" Lol, that is funny. That should be a show "What does this enemy taste like?"

I was the same way with Stranger Things.

I actually like the water temples. The one in Twilight Princess reminds me of that scene from Abyss. Rather than swim down using the Zora Armor, I would just go to the center of the spot where I needed to be, turn the Iron Boots on and watch Link descend into the trench.

Your criticism of Stranger Things didn't really make much sense. It didn't try to be an *exact* copy of the 80's, it just drew inspiration from it to create something new and I think it did a really great job of it.
@HerrFinsternis8 жыл бұрын
Yes I didn't get the critique either. They only really made remarks about the technical side ("why didn't it look crap") and that (because of that I must assume) it didn't feel like an 80s series, but nothing was said about the storytelling and indeed the Stephen King kind of weirdness they were going for. Not that you can ever truly capture that on screen, but I thought they did an excellent job.

Yet they loved IT which borrowed many elements from Stranger Things

He said it was a fine show, just not this new great thing everyone was talking about, and i mean that is a fair opinion, i know several people that think that it is nothing special. And he was not saying that is bad because is not like an 80's show, he was specifically disagreeing with the people that said that the show was in the style of a typical 80's show. That it was a modern show just set in the 80's. Not that there is anything wrong with that.

I believed the reasoning "Zolas" were changed to "Zoras" because it supposed to be spelled that way since the Japanese language lacks the English "r" sound, instead the Japanese replace the "r" sound with a "l" sound. I guess Nintendo of America changed the name from "Zolas" to "Zoras" when "A Link to the past" came out.

I'm having a hard time understanding the cynicism about Stranger Things. I can get that it's not for everyone but I feel like they went into it with certain expectations that were let down and that's not the shows fault. It's theirs :/ Also I agree with Mike wholeheartedly, the Oracle games are amazing.

To note here about the Zola/ Zora thing; in Japan the Ls and Rs have the same sound so when translated over it's always up in the air what it's supposed to be. Like in Tales of Phantasia the fan translation named the main character Cless but when the official Game Boy Advance version came out his name was Cress. So it's probably the same enemy and just called Zoras

To put it simply, the "1/2" magic upgrade cuts the cost of all magic spells in HALF. So essentially, you have TWICE AS MUCH magic to use.
