@@jamesprigioni You should enroll Tuck in the Dog Aging Project. They do studies on dog healthspan and lifespan. Most of the participants are in an observational study to find out what lifestyle and environmental factors influence healthy aging. They also have a clinical trial on the effects of low dose rapamycin. It's interesting that the most common pastime of centenarians is gardening & a recent study found that gardening families have differences in their gut microbiomes compared to non-gardeners. It would be great to get more 'gardening dogs' in the DAP so more can be learned about the effects of gardening on health and lifespan.

The reason certain plants have pest or disease problems is they are not at optimum health. Their immune system is lacking due to some nutritional issue. Look up Advancing Eco Ag.
@jamesprigioni3 жыл бұрын
That’s true in some scenarios, but not true for some insects like the plum curcullio, they look for healthy fruit to lay their eggs in the pits of the tree seeds, so it’s not only dependent on plant health and nutrition
@lamegalectora2 жыл бұрын
DONT DO THAT!!! Not if you care, anyway. Organic or not, you are DECIMATING a certain kind of insects and that, my friend, cannot be good for your gardens ecosystem. The fact that a product is ‘natural’ does not make it any the less noxious. Go eat a bit of hemlock and you will see what I mean.

Cedarcide (Western Red Cedar oil) is another great product, which I've been using for years to keep parasites off my dog, and also to kill mites - especially indoor grows. Mites are the bane of indoor cannabis farmers, but the non-thermal cedarcide fogger kills them in all the nooks and crannies. It can also be used to weatherproof wood, and I use it on my bare wood guitar necks, because it has a catalytic reaction that hardens the surface, protecting it. Thanks for the helpful video - your enthusiasm is contagious!

Best to use Neem Oil at dusk after the honeybees stop foraging, never directly spray flowers. This is a dangerous pesticide for honey bees. BT also works well against Gypsy Moth catepillars, use a burlap band on the truck of any trees you want to reduce them on, at night they come down and hide under the burlap which you spray along with your brassica's. This makes it easier to handle giant trees by using the caterpillar's natural habits against them.

Planting neem trees around the boundary,( in case its a larger garden) do aid in pest control. Using crushed Neem leaves as compost tea(which was kept overnight in soaked condition) with some soap solution also helps.
