I discovered Gazpacho on the Costa Brava in 1963 when I was only 12 years old and I have never ever been bored by it. It is the perfect iced, liquid salad for a hot lunchtime. It is as delicious today as it was 60 years ago.

+wikichi, por lo visto en cada casa tenéis una receta propia. En casa de una amiga mía malagueña lo aromatizaban con tomillo y lo servían con trocitos de manzana golden pelada. No obstante, es cierto que parece mucho el pimiento, la cebolla es muy discutible y la pimienta no es lo más habitual.

I think your recipe is the most true to the original south spain gazpacho I've seen. It's usually people making their own version or things that look like pico de gallo with tomato juice LOL my mom used to make it like this when I was a kid, she also knew how to make salmorejo (but I mean, I'm spanish and I think everybody follows the original recipes in our country hahaha). You should try to make a recipe for flamenquines cordobeses, they're also part of my childhood and brings me so many good memories

Nathan M Do you mean the ONLY culture that treated the original people in the American continent with some respect, unlike the German/English/Irish/Dutch culture that dominates the US and Canada? How many people with native American phenotype do you see in the US or Canada nowadays? And where are they? Exactly, a mere handful and all of them relegated to small reserves .... in their own land. Now, what about from Mexico to Argentina? How many do you find there? I see. What you Americans call 'latinos' or 'hispanic' are a mix of Spaniards (white Europeans), original native american people (from America) and black people (from Africa) ..... now wait, does it mean that the now trendy miscegenation (racial mixing) was invented and promoted by the Spaniards over 500 years ago? And what about the abolition of slavery? Have you heard of Queen Isabella of Spain an her prohibition of slavery in the Spanish American territories in 1494, no less than 521 years ago? The Spanish Empire was a great and powerful machine that dominated the world for almost 300 years. They brought civilisation, knowledge and culture to the American continent and the Philippines; they invented new maritime shipping routes all over the Atlantic and Pacific oceans; they brought to Europe new foods, products, plants, flowers, animals, words (chocolate, tomato, potato, puma, coyote, coco, cocoa ... just to name a few). When the Spaniards settled anywhere in America, the first two things they built was a church (called 'misión' - plenty current American cities where missions originally-) and a university (a place of knowledge for the exchange of ideas, knowledge and goods with the locals), whereas when us Brits or the French came to America, the first two things we built in a settlement were a slaves market and a bank. You get the picture and yes, I'm British, but I think the world owes A LOT to the Spaniards. Read a bit, cultivate yourself and don't believe everything the disgusting black legend has promoted.

Matt Owen I'm spanish and thanks to you I've just read some articles and learnt about how advanced spanish kings were in the XV century with regard to human rights! Even here Anglo-Saxon culture has expanded the black legend and I didn't know about the rather deep respect they had towards the natives. Also, in general, we have a very bad image of ourselves so I guess it is easier to believe the negative stories than the positive ones. So thank you very much!
