@@krimsonkatt To add to that - no law of biology forbids asexual, gay and lesbian folk from being donors/clients of a sperm bank (or even just having sex specifically for purpose of procreation, if they don't mind). And even on top of that, we also have to consider gay trans man that may still be capable of giving birth and lesbian trans woman that still may be capable of producing sperm... And that is without even mentioning intersex and nonbinary people. In other words, that statement couldn't be more wrong

@@xWolfDOFR To be fair, a lot of those options weren't available for the millenia of human existence; heterosexual activity was crucial to getting mankind as a whole where it is today. I speak for any DECENT straight person who is your friend/family when I say, honestly I don't give one flying crap about your preference in bed. I will try my best to respect your pronouns, but please don't try to shove it in my face. I'm sorry if I offend you by saying this, but I really hate it when certain lgbt members use sexuality as a way to justify certain actions, like yelling in my face when I accidentally use the wrong pronouns. Sexuality or being trans doesn't justify hurting the people that actually support you and your decisions. Me talking for myself I'm sorry if this offends you, but when someone yells in my face over my mistake it hurts. I'm a cis straight female and I have autism, so most of the time I don't catch social cues and make a mistake. I make it blatant that I have this and I make a mistake here and there without realizing. So when people say, "That's not an excuse for misgendering me" it hurts. Bc Autism and any mental or social disability is a real problem that causes people to accidentally say something wrong and not realize it or not be able to learn as quickly as most would like. Sorry if I'm rambling and it's bothering you. I will stop now.

She just said (sorry for thansphobia) "but what if women don't want guys who think they're women in their changing rooms" and I was just stumped. Like, people actually think like that outside of extreme internet echo chambers? She's also right-wing so that might explain it. Communal changing rooms are a violation of privacy regardless of gender. Changing rooms should be small, lockable booths for one person at a time. Likewise, toilets should come in lockable stalls. Likewise, showers should come in lockable stalls (except those that sometimes exist in public pools that aren't gender segregated anyway because you're supposed to be wearing swimwear while using them - distinct from the entrance/exit showers that are used to get clean before and/or after the main part of your visit). All of these should be visually insulated from floor to ceiling. No gender segregation, only individual privacy.

@@PlatonicLiquid um, those people are represented at pride. Asexuals, intersex people, questioning, those are all under the LGBTQIA+ umbrella. Heterosexuality itself isn't "represented" but there are plenty of people in the alphabet mafia that represent it by being themselves. Also, heterosexual relationships with LGBTQIA+ individuals aren't a valid reason. If two opposite gender bisexuals get together, they are both still bisexual and in a bisexual relationship. Two opposite gender heterosexual trans people can get together, too, and it may be a heterosexual relationship but that doesn't exclude them from pride. Even if only one member of that relationship was trans, it would still be a LGBTQIA+ relationship even though both people are straight. Maybe I read too much into that one in particular because it offended me personally since that's shit I've been told (you're dating X, you're basically straight now!) all my life, but I still feel my point is justified on that one. Plus, hets and cis people aren't bAnNeD or whatever from pride. They can join us to support their LGBTQIA+ loved ones or just show up to party with us. As long as they aren't rude or phobic, everyone can go. Heterosexuality doesn't warrant its own representation. Heterosexuality has no negative connotation in society; it's a default. Saying it needs to be represented in pride is like saying white people need to be represented during black history month. No, that's not for them, and pride isn't for heterosexuality. Pride isn't just a party, chief, it's about awareness. Everyone knows what straight people do, are, what they've done, etc. How many LGBTQIA+ inventors or scientists do you know off the top of your head? Do you know what common things you use were made or the creation/use of made possible because of work done by people in the alphabet mafia? Probably not, right? Pride is meant to raise awareness of those great things we've done but never got credited for, to be loud and demand equal rights, to say we don't deserve to be discriminated against for being born. Heterosexuality does not need that. The bigots can stay mad. They'll never be happy anyway.

I have a really good example of this. The other day in the lab I found a colour swatch book for paint colours, and they were in all just shoved in at random. I made a comment to a collegue saying they should have arranged it in rainbow order. He got mad and said not everything had to be rainbow and just because I was LGBTQ+ didn't mean everything had to be rainbow, bla bla bla. But that's not the reason I wanted it rainbow to begin with, it would just make sense for colour flow and would make comparing similar colours easier. And you could even argue they are then sorted into light wavelength with is super handy for a lab setting. Just because I like rainbows and use them to organize my space doesn't mean it is always linked to LGBTQ+ things. Sometimes, it's just a rainbow. 🤣

I’m not the most qualified, but I think a lot of this is a misunderstanding of what the purpose of pride parades are. It’s not just for celebrating being LGBT+ just to celebrate it. It doesn’t mean straight and Cis people don’t matter at all. It’s at least partly about awareness. It’s about saying “We’re here and you cant change us!” We’re not looking for more rights, we want equal rights. No one is trying to change straight or cis people. Just as a point though, please do not glare at a straight person/couple at a pride event unless they’re actually being homophobic/transphobic. They might just be there with their LGBT family.
