Comments like "are you sure you're really X" or "You just haven't found the right man/woman!" THIS. They even used the "us straights are starting to be discriminated now !", and I had to ask them if they ever had to fear for their lives while walking outside with their partner, or fearing to be kicked out by family, discriminated against, etc. Heck, they never even WENT to Pride, they only vaguely saw images on tv once like a decade ago. I went to our local pride so I told them how it went, and the origins of pride, and why it was important to some people esp the queer youth, and they were like "meh, ok, but we still disapprove of it and we know gays who would never go to it". It was possibly one of the most frustrating conversation I ever had (not to mention I also had to come out as queer for like the 4th time because my family had.... forgotten about it. Oh well.)

@@He_Saves Maybe we have different opinions about what shame means. People in the LGBT+ community are bullied, laught at, and disdained; we can lose jobs or have fewer opportunities in life just for being LGBT+. In Mexico (where I live) and many other places, we often get killed, and no one does anything about it. Society teaches us to be ashamed by letting us know that we are not normal, and that we need to hide parts of ourselves to be accepted. In that sense, we are taught to be ashamed of being LGBT+. Of course everyone has a right to be proud of who they are: straights have that right too. But for us, Pride is a movement to claim a safe place in the world, to tell everyone that we exist and we resist, because this world has been hostile to us, and that has to change. That's why straights don't need a pride: nobody tells them that they shouldn't exist.

@basedbattledroid35073 жыл бұрын
For me it reached the height of childishness when they came up with "super straight". I mean imagine "inventing" a new "sexuality" on fuckin Tiktok or 4chan, whatever came first, they're both stupid, just because they were insecure about being called transphobic for not wanting to date a trans person, when pretty much none of them have had any experiences with trans people and literally none of us have ever said it's transphobic to not want to date us, just don't use your preference as an excuse to harass us, that's all. And the cherry on top is how they have to put "Super" on it. They literally just wanna feel superior to trans people again, just right there in the name. As if we had anything remotely close to equality with them in the first place, transphobes think basic manners like pronouns are the only equality we need and they fight tooth and nail against something as simple as that, won't even acknowledge issues like the violence we experience, workplace discrimination and lack of job security, lack of access to healthcare or lack of coverage by health insurance, the proposed bills preventing us from using public bathrooms or even the two proposed bills here in Australia that tried to outlaw treatment for gender dysphoria. It's a butt-ugly flag too, one color and one shade, divided into two blocks instead of horizontal stripes and then they had to add the male and female symbols on top of that garish orange and flavorless black because the meaning wasn't even clear enough in the initial design. If they did their reading, they would've found out that Cissexual was already a thing, a preference towards romantic or sexual partners who are cisgender men or women, and pretty much nobody used being cissexual as an excuse to treat trans people like shit, it was just their preference, and we respect that. They also would've realized that you can't "Invent" a new sexuality, and it's not really a sexuality if it's just a more selective version of being straight, that's just a preference. Like how some people may be straight but prefer to date white people, that's not a sexuality, that's just a preference, caucasian is not a gender and trans is not a gender. And preferring to date white people doesn't make racism towards people of color okay, just as preferring to date cis people doesn't make harassing trans and non binary people okay I mean if super straight was literally just straight people saying "trans people are okay, they deserve equality and respect, I just prefer to date cis people" that's fine, no complaints from me, you do you. But it didn't stop there, the immaturity of it kept building, people started taking it seriously, they went around doxxing, threatening and harassing trans people, mocking traumatic experiences LGBTQ+ people have gone through with tasteless shitty unfunny jokes "I'm gonna kill myself because my parents don't accept me as super straight, stunning and brave!! 🧡🖤", and the usual shit. I don't know how they expected to be taken seriously when the entire thing started as a joke and they refuse to respect anyone else, to turn around and actually complain about "superphobia" like it's a real problem, after making their 9,000th joke about trans people committing suicide, well it's just fucked up.

That is very hypocritical, weren't your Lgbtqia+-/%^ñ group protesting in the streets during this. Yall were the ones upset with us having the straight pride parade. Also, why most of us "Straight white people" dont like BLM is not because of race, its because of the fact that across the country in blue citys, riots were breaking out in the name of BLM. Remember that "fiery but mostly peaceful" bullshit that cnn and all the other libtard press talked about. They said they were peaceful and that the police were just causing the trouble. THE DAMM SECURITY CAMERAS SHOW THE RIOTERS LOOTING BUISNESSES AND STORES, COMMITING ARSON AND FIGHTING WITH POLICE. There is no justification for what they did. That's why we dont like BLM. 2013 (I think) was the year of Luigi. Nintendo did this to give Luigi, a character with not as much representation as his brother, Mario, a chance to shine and get more recognition. They released Luigi-based games and media, including Super Luigi Bros. It was really fun and nice to see a secondary character getting more recognition. Straight pride month would be like a year of Mario. Mario is the main character in almost every game he’s in. It’s always “Mario Bros.” “Mario Party,” “Mario Kart,” Luigi is there, but he’s always a secondary character. Just like real life, LGBTQ+ people are a minority, cishet people are always more recognized and have far more media representation. Let the LGBTQ+ community have their month like Luigi had his year. Cishet people don’t need a month and Mario doesn’t need a year, because they’re already almost always in the spotlight.

Everything you achieve in life wether you consider it big or small is something to be proud of but it's also not something to feel ashamed about if you don't achieve that certain goal you set. We are all on different timelines in life and no two paths are the same, so comparing yourself isn't the way to live. Don't just do something for the sole purpose of proving that you in fact can do it. Asking for help doesn't mean that you have failed failing to ask for help however is failing yourself because you are not giving yourself the best opportunity to grow and flourish your full potential No one can do something correct 100 percent of the time. One thing I do find kinda peculiar, is how there's is a word for "emasculating". But, not a word for "efeminising" or, whatever it'd be called. As like, they are SO obsessed with "boys being boys" and "girls being girls". But... they haven't invented a word for it? Or, I guess "not lady like" or "not girly" is kinda the equivalent? Cuz, I see stuff like "You can't let Timmy wear pink! That's emasculating your little boy!" (and/or turning Timmy gay/into a girl, because that apparently works as long as Timmy isn't trans?) all the time. But while I do see "You can let Tiffany wear pants/do sports!" as well. It's always followed with like "No man would want her then!", "turning her away from god" or other drawn out stupid excuses. I dunno, it's just weird they didn't invent a word for that specifically.

There’s actually some disagreement among Californians how to pronounce Stanislaus County’s name:) I don’t pronounce the ‘S’ at the end of the name
@meep_sheep8143 жыл бұрын
I’ve always pronounced it like “stannis-loss”
@Mokiefraggle3 жыл бұрын
Yeah, it's a weird one. I've heard it in every variation from not pronouncing the "s" to clearly pronouncing it, and everything in between.

@@marymcewen3610 Nah, just a fellow Californian. Only time I've been in Modesto was once or twice when my stepmom lived there. That said, it's still one of the places in California where I've seen the most hearty debate about how in the heck you pronounce the name.

The best comparison that I can make is that pride is like a veteran's day march.Showing gratitude to the ones who helped pave the way and showing support to those who stuck in bad times.

I was in Salem with my homophobic dad and every store had a pride flag in it and one store had a shirt that said, “be gay, do witchcraft” with a pentagram filled in with rainbow, and the cashier asked if I wanted it and I told them that I would but my dad wouldn’t let me so she asked if I had money and I said yeah, and she let me buy the shirt and gave me a regular Salem shirt to cover it in the bag, so now I have my favorite shirt just to piss of my dad when I come out

Speaking as a cishet person, we really don’t need straight pride. People who think we do are stealing rhetoric from the left while simultaneously completely misunderstanding it. It’s important to get outside of your bubble and broaden your knowledge and perspective. It’s also important to understand that people being mean to you on the internet is not the same thing as systemic oppression, and conflating the two is extremely dishonest.

My "fellow" Americans really struggle to multitask their hatred for the LGBT+ community. They also also forget about the rest of the community besides the first four until something comes up. It'd almost be a funny circus act if they weren't actually harming anyone. Meanwhile, Russia is aware of all of them and is out for literal blood. Edit: autocorrect be trolling.

i live very near to where that event was held in modesto, ca. as i recall it was a thinly veiled front for a white nationalist rally (the proud boys were there) and it was largely unsuccessful (there were more counter-protestors than actual supporters)

@@UmongusSussehFrusseh central California is actually pretty conservative, and events like this aren't illegal, just distasteful, so state and local authorities wouldn't step in even if they wanted to.

I think straight pride mocks the heck out of the lgbtqia2s+ community. We aren't saying yay we're gay/queer/asexual/etc. We are saying look how far we have come, we love one another and we are our own safe spaces.
