The overwhelming irony of "stop teaching kids pronouns and start teaching them grammar" has melted my brain. I also want some awesome teachers to maliciously comply with that horrible idea just to watch the chaos.

Miranda does not wish to use pronouns, because Miranda believes that pronouns are grammatically incorrect. From now on, Miranda would like the person reading this comment to refer to Miranda only as "Miranda". Additionally, Miranda's cat is to be referred to only as "Miranda's cat", or by Miranda's cat's name. When Miranda goes to work, Miranda will refer to Miranda's coworkers only by Miranda's coworkers' names. Miranda presumes this comment is an example of what the anti-pronoun people want. Seriously, "stop teaching kids pronouns and start teaching *them* grammar". I can't even.

Then it's like, well what's their reason behind saying "Merry Christmas." Because it seems like if they're doing it out of holiday cheer and whatever then unless you're with other people who you know celebrate as you do, it would be kinder to say "Happy Holidays". My GP got a little flustered when he had to ask me if I had a cervix or not. I am Intersex and transmasculine. I was born without any gendered sexual organs to the point that the doctors couldn't make a medical diagnosis. That's not ridiculous at all, Carol! Situations like that are actually relatively common among older folks, from my experiences at least. My 50-year-old mom didn't know much about trans people until I came out to her 4 years ago. Yes, she did say some harmful things at first, but she never intended to hurt me. Yes, it took her a while to adjust to my name and pronouns, but she put in effort into respecting my identity. Despite being very confused about LGBTQIA+ identities, she continues to unconditionally love me for who I am as a queer person. She's trying, and that's all that matters to me It's ok if you were ignorant in the past. What matters now is that you're actively learning and trying to respect us trans people. It's better late than never to educate yourself 💜

Honestly these people get so obsessive about trying to catch trans people irl that they start accusing random cis people of being trans simply bc they committed the high crime of not looking like the most over-exaggerated caricature ever. I remember reading about a very funny instance where a cis terf tried to “clock” a “trans” woman from an image of a protest, and she mostly pointed out their forehead and eyebrow bone structure. She made a huge deal on the specific feature. Soon after her post is seen by more of her terf compatriots, they look at her (op’s) profile picture, and then realized she has the exact same bone structure! They instantly turned on her and lambasted her for “being a TIM.” So ridiculous. They don’t even know what women look like anymore. And also, foreheads are such a weird thing to try and make the case for perfect sexual dimorphism. I used to be very dysphoric about mine (pronounced slope and somewhat heavy brow) but the more I looked at other people’s profiles, the more I realized it’s not that consistent. Like its enough that it makes sense to generalize, but also it’s not that rare to see a cis man with a round forehead 😂

transphobe talking points exist in a bubble, that's why they often say contradicting things. if they only took a bit more time to broaden their context, to see the bigger picture they would get it. for example, people who say the "lgb drop the t" line, forget that literally every trans person has been l g or b at some point of their lives so you would still need to support them all or at least most of them since you would consider straight trans women to be g, straight trans men to be l, and bi trans people to be b.

The problem is simply that people have a very poor understanding of the notion of social construct. Saying that something is a social construct is not at all the same as saying that it "doesn't really exist", quite the contrary. Social constructs are deeply inscribed in our societies and shape our identities. "Physical and mental gender" absolutely doesn't exist apart from social. It doesn't make our identities any less valid, because our identities are inseparable from the social structures that shape them. @@krimsonkatt Dude you know nothing about this person but feel comfortable saying they don’t experience dysphoria or euphoria off one comment of a few sentences. I highly doubt they’re under 25 as they said in their comment that it’s taken *decades* to feel comfortable coming out. Also people under 25 are able to understand their gender and not have it be a phase. Yes people are allowed to be tomboys and it’s definitely easier within society but that’s why this person knows they are nonbinary. They didn’t go “I like to wear masculine clothes that must mean I’m not a woman”. Probably more like “I have been told I was a woman all my life but I know I’m not so I’ll make the difficult decision to accept that and embrace who I really am”.

Hi there! Fellow Cis gal here. I think it's wonderful that you are willing to take the time to learn about people and be respectful to them! That is commendable! 😊 There is a theory that transphobia stems not from a fear of trans people, but rather a fear that they themselves are a trans person and are in denial of it. Many experience jealousy from seeing people so open with their identity while they feel they have to hide theirs. Nether of these are excusable though. Lashing out at people out of fear or jealousy is still wrong and hurtful. And yeah, they are an embarrassment. Sadly they are also very loud and vocal and they drown out the positive voices. We hear noise before we can hear music. 😔

I feel that homophobia and transphobia often go hand-in-hand for the same reason: most homophobes are Christian, and biological sex equating to gender is VERY important to them. For instance, I had a conversation with my mother. She's not outwardly homophobic because she takes a "judge not" stance, but she does think non-heterosexuality is wrong, and is willfully ignorant when it comes to trans people despite my stepbrother being trans male. Anyway, our conversation was a hypothetical scenario I had presented to her. She's young and engaged to the perfect boyfriend. He's so handsome, kind, devoted, and a master in the sheets. On the day of their wedding, he confesses to her that he was born as a girl. Would she still marry him? She said no. She could never be with a "woman." Even if "she" looked like a man, treated her right, and she had fallen madly in love with "her", my mom said she would never be a lesbian. It's so disappointing. I don't know how to make her understand anything related to LGBT, especially my own identity as aroace. Anytime the subject comes up anymore, I just deflect because it gets so exhausting saying the same things and not a word of it being heard. Well, sorry for the comment novel. But thank you for being supportive and willing to educate yourself.

I'm not sure exactly how old I was when I learned about the possibility of being transgender, though I'm pretty sure it was in high school, so the 2000s. It made perfect sense to me when it was described as the brain not matching the body. I'd heard of and learned about lots of different birth defects before - biology and anatomy nerd here - so it made perfect sense to me that, as a trans person, you'd change whatever might be needed or wanted on the body so it matches the brain living in it. Since you can't change the brain, change the body. People change LOTS of things due to birth defects. No one has said anything about me fixing my eyes or removing a bad gall bladder. Both were birth defects and I elected to have them fixed. It shouldn't be considered any different, whatever form a person's transition takes.

You can be the president in this democracy and have the highest power (cis het nuerotypical white men) but if you don’t have complete power it can seem like you have none and I see many people basing their views on this claiming they’re being oppressed just because some people came out and said “you’re a shitty king let’s all have some level of power at least”. Also the quote came from a person on tik toc and YT shorts called The Mann. He’s a great advocate for people who aren’t cis het white men. He is a cis het white man but he advocates for us and unfortunately, society is a bitch and needs a cis het white man to say that he agrees with us before they’ll listen. Anyways go check him out. The person complaining about baldness, who I assume is a FTM trans person...many, many cis men experience hair loss so even though they admitted that PCOS meant they'd started losing their hair pre-transition, it's strange to complain about it in the way they were as many people experience baldness and it's even seen as a sign of virility and masculinity by some.

I just had an extended discussion with someone who honestly tried to convince me that trans women breastfeeding (which I had just found out was possible and got exited about) will lead to cis man getting into women's prison pretending to be trans and SAing other inmates. Because it was "denying biological facts". This person also felt that her being a lesbian was relevant to this discussion. In the end, she stopped replying after I asked her for a source after giving mine and she claimed KZbin wouldn't let her post it.

It's possible because cisgender men can and have done that too. Both male and female bodies have functional breast tissue, just in different quantities, and both are capable of producing the hormone prolactin. This also means it's possible for cis men to get breast cancer as well, which is something to be aware of.

the only people denying biological facts and putting ideology over it are transphobes. their ideology says "men can't breastfeed", but then both trans men and women (and cis men too sometimes) can do it, so they just have to deny it instead of adapting to the new information.

I had someone tell me recently that they know at least 10 trans people and "all but 2 of them have fully regretted it!" I tried to tell her that the rate of de-transitioning is low. But she also then said that one friend regrets her breast implants because they are a kind that has been recently called back and they weren't good for her health. I dont think that equates to her friend de-transitioning. It's the same as a cis woman regretting her breast augmentation. She wouldn't listen and I 2as not in a place where I could discuss it further so I dropped it. I also realize I'm not trans and don't get to make those distinctions. I would love input from trans voices -only if you have the energy (self care is important) Also if I have worded something offensively please let me know. I know there is always more to learn. Not only is the regret rate SUPER low with those who have transition, the majority of thos who have expressed regret list things like lack of social support and discrimination as the reasons why they regret transitioning. So it's not the fact that they were trans or that they transitioned, it's that people suck and don't support them. So if people were more supportive/accepting, the rate of regret would essentially disappear!

I’m a ciswoman ally, and I have seen firsthand how horrible gender dysphoria can be from watching both my brother and my boyfriend transition. I can empathize with that idea of your body not matching what your mental idea of yourself is and wanting to take steps to make your body match your mind, and I hate that there are people out there trying to stop trans people from being able to take those steps. People have unalived themselves because of gender dysphoria, yet these transphobes decide to ignore that and only focus on the small percentage of people that regretted transitioning. It is close minded and disgusting. Trans people aren’t hurting anyone and they shouldn’t be attacked for wanting to be comfortable in their own skin
