For about three hours now I’ve had a frozen turkey, still wrapped outside in a 5 gallon bucket full of water with a few chunks of ice and I change it about every 40 or so minutes and the turkey itself is in a bag a trash bag that is in the bucket, but I’m getting so many different feedbacks all over the Internet about being wrapped verses unwrapped

Just in case it hasn't been thought of- if you fill the pot to the brim and continue with the trickle method, it seems like you'd get a headstart on the thaw since the cold won't just be being drawn out from just the surface area of the initial trickling water. Good idea, though. Thank you. 🙂

@@elijahmccormick3360 to prevent bacteria...and it thaws evenly..when water gets to room temp bacteria can multiply causing food poisoning...and room temp water cools to turkey temp which means it wont thaw properly...

Thats wrong the Turkey must be completely submerged in cold water and not let to stand at room for any amount of time! The water needs to be changed every half hour.

Ms. Jan Thank you for taking time out of your day to show us out here in You Tube land . How to defrost a turkey 🦃. It's nice having a big sister/ mother figure. To show us how to defrost the turkey. My favorite part of the video was when you said "Y'all let's get to cookin".😅😂😁👍🦃 I'm guessing you and your family 💖 are from the south of the United States. As for myself . It actually doesn't bother me to touch a raw turkey ☺️. Cause I've worked in a chicken 🐔 plant. Only for the brave at heart I guess. Blessings to you and your family 💖👍.

Bird needs to be fully submerged. The part that is already thawed and not covered in water is sitting at room temperature for too long and no longer safe. No reason to do a slow trickle of water.

I got a turkey in the bucket outside and it’s still wrapped and inside of a black garbage bag filled with water and a few chunks of ice and I put a rock to keep the turkey from floating and I’ve been changing it about every 30 to 45 minutes I hope I don’t vomit

@@AccountabilityFit Oh wait I did more research and Noo microwave isnt recommented best safe way is submerged into cold water and change the water out every half hour its recommented they all are saying, how ever I made it on every hour or more...if the turky is too big to cover the whole thing in the sink with cold water I decided to place a clean thick wash cloth towel over the part that sicks out of the water and run more cold water on it till the water reaches to the top of the sink that way the Turkey stays cold on top too.. That is after cleaning scrubbing and disinfecting your sink first.

@@cosmeticsandpurseswithevelyn I'm about an hour into microwave & defrosting it, lol. I'm glad you responded. The outside is thawed, the wings are really thaw, and the inside is frozen. Plan B now is to cut it down into smaller pieces and pressure cook from frozen. It should take around 115 minutes. Thanks.

@@AccountabilityFit Quick googled the presure cooker so long as its not a slow cooker obviously - Yes, it is safe to cook frozen food in a pressure cooker or an electric pressure cooker like an Instant Pot. However, if you only have the slow cooker version of the Instant Pot, then it is not safe to cook frozen food in it. It is safe to cook frozen food in a pressure cooker because it uses pressure to move food through the "Danger Zone" quickly. As a result, you don't run into the issues that you would find by cooking frozen food in a slow cooker, where it can stay too long in the Danger Zone and could become unsafe. Have a Blessed Holiday Season 🦃🎄
