Please get that guitar out of Perry's hands… he is horrible! And why would he play a 12 string when he can't even tune the thing? Having only one guitar playing on this song is better than Perry playing a 12 string
@kevindemattia Жыл бұрын
He chose the 12 string because it's a beefier, fuller sound, and he only has to play 2 chords, first the E chord, which he then slid up the neck to make the second chord. But A) either he or the roadie didn't tune the guitar properly, or maybe it had been in tune earlier but then went out of tune as the day went on and B) Perry's guitar was way too high in the mix.

takecareofyourshoess Eric was definitely the coolest guy during JA’s prime (86-91). That he went and played in Alanis Morrisette’s band later doesn’t take away what he was from ‘86-‘91. I was there and it was a fantastic day. I liked to see Jane's as much as I could in the 80's. I saw a flyer that basically said, "Call this number, at this time, to get tickets to a special, secret Jane's Addiction show." They arranged ticketing in a way that people couldn't scalp them. It was like a magical mystery tour. We all had to meet in a parking lot somewhere and then boarded busses that took us a couple hours east, to the mountains, then it was on to a couple of shuttles, which ultimately took us to the Mount Baldy Lodge. There was barbecue (not free) and no other bands. As you can see in the video, it was small and intimate. We knew they were filming there were signs), but we didn't know it was to get footage for the Stop video. I was taping the show, like I always did when I could, and my batteries died halfway through the set. That freed me to stand behind the band, a couple feet from Stephen Perkins. I'm a drummer and I love his playing. Afterwards, he was really friendly and gave me a signed drumstick. He's a stoner and was around the clubs a lot. Easy to meet, if you wanted to. I saw a lot of people getting Perry's autograph and I decided I didn't want to be obnoxious and add to the annoyance. As he signed the last one and started to walk away, I thought, "Fuck it, I may not get another chance." I can be such a fanboy sometimes. I said excuse me Perry, would you sign this for me" (don't remember what it was) and he replied, "I'd rather not." Ouch. "Of course, no problem." I slinked away. Saying, "I'd rather not" sounded like, "unless you're going to be a pushy asshole about it." One more thing. It looked like Perry had track marks on his arm that he made no effort to conceal. I suspect they were fake though, put there for shock value and gossip. It was a wonderful day. One more, more thing. I was at a party around this time when a friend wheeled me around and said, "See that girl sitting on the couch? That's Jane. The Jane behind the band name and the song." I said, "ok. Cool", and partied on through the night, as was the fashion at the time.

@@maxmustermann8442 No. He always had sunglasses on and looked moody and unapproachable. Perry made fun of Dave a couple times, between songs. Who knows how playful or hurtful I meant to be by it? I had some good luck at Jane's shows and at one of the John Anson Ford Theatre shows, I somehow ended up with a backstage pass, which I used to procure beer. I wound up face to face with Navarro for a moment, but again, he had the sunglasses on and looked moody and unapproachable. As I mentioned, Stephen Perkins is very friendly and approachable. And quite a stoner. When there was tension and weirdness and fighting between other band members, Perkins was always on good terms with all three.
