SOK Love apparently Adele thought Janelle was the next big thing. In 2009 Janelle led the opening acts followed by Chaka Khan for Adele at the Hollywood Bowl. That was how I discovered her music. She went on tour with Adele. I thought she was weird at the time, but now i LOVE her.

Actually, I was taught that in classical music/theater, it's appropriate to: 1. not applaud at all during the performance (to assure minimal distractions), 2. Pause at the end of a piece before clapping (to let the music set in), and 3. to continue applaud until everyone on the stage has been acknowledged and left the stage.... So, if all of those things are correct, than they were treating her with respect. :)

i feel so bad not realizing this young lady even exsisted, i have been living in the Atl for the past 10yrs and never heard of this astonishing talent untill my return to london, unfortunetly for us poor listeners if one is not in the clicke out there then one is not reconized. Ms Monae please come to Europe where yourself and your kind of music will be more than appreciated. My first year of living there I actually stopped listening to the radio. This is amazing! Other "stars" in this situation would show up on stage in some ridiculous outfit prancing around stage and ending up doing nothing special (i think everyone knows someone like this). but janelle managed to make an amazing performance, look elegant even though she was only wearing a simple black dress and was quiet during the whole song! very good! thumbs up if you agree with me
