If it weren't for her, the music industry wouldn't be what it is today. She contributed so much and my heart breaks for how much she's forgotten in the shadows of her brother, Madonna, Prince, etc... she's just as important as them!!
@dreduvon22485 жыл бұрын
She's not forgotten the least bit, she was just inducted into the "Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame ", not too long ago even though it was long passed overdue. All of the today's female pop artists have said how much she influenced them including Beyonce, Cierra, Brittany Spears , and Christina Agullera's imulating asses and paid tributes to her over the years.

Janet was never lost in anybody's shadow, as she still continues to release #1 hits to this day, do ya facts check on The queen. Her current hit "Made For Now" is doing well. You gotta tune in and check it out. She hasn't lost her momentum, she just gave them new girls a chance to try to catch up, while she's still leading the way.
@nestaparks93705 жыл бұрын
Probably in today's pop scene of new artists she's forgotten about but the people that grew up on her music REMEMBER what that time was like. Rhythm Nation was just the biggest breakthrough album for her. In my opinion it was waaaaay better than Control. "Alright" video when it came to the choreography and visuals will be legnedary forever. Nobody dances like that now. Nobody wants to jam and rock out like the old days.

Why aren't music videos this good anymore? I miss videos like ones from Janet or Michael that showcased a lot of awesome choreography with backup dancers with different themes that went along well with the song. Not to mention how much better music was in general than today. Glad Janet is back! No Sleeep is a great track but I hope she has another "Escapade" or "Runaway" feel good track in store for everyone as well.

People pirate music which means that record companies don't have money to hire great choreographers or invest in elaborate sets. They keep their costs low and amp up the sex.
@ChoobChoob9 жыл бұрын
+Ray Mabry Actually it not because of pirating; it's simply because it's business. With the internet, they're making more money than ever through marketing. Record companies can make $100m a pop; naturally they'll try to spend as less money as possible.
@queendancy8929 жыл бұрын

@raym.7789 жыл бұрын
KasHCubeD Where's your proof for that statement? Because just about everyone knows what of the hit they took once people gained the ability to share music online and burn CDs. Many labels aren't even around anymore because they couldn't adapt to the change. They've very obviously lost the control they once had. Labels used to be able to charge $20.00 for an album and there was nothing anyone could do about it. Now the average price of a standard album is about $10.00. And people have the option of spending even less money by paying to rent music. I easily could have spent hundreds of dollars a year buying CDs, now with Spotify I only have to spend roughly $120.00 each year to have access to a significant portion of all of the music out there. That's the equivalent to purchasing only 6 albums pre Napster. For many artists, selling 2 million albums was standard, and plenty of artists sold way more than that. People like Shania Twain and Alanis Morissette both sold 30 million units of a single album at one point and that was a rare feat. Now Taylor Swift has sold roughly 5 or 6 million and Adele has sold roughly 7 or 8 million and they're seen as something special. Don't get me wrong, it's successful even by old industry standards but it's that much more of a big deal when most artists are struggling to go platinum. So if you're going to make claims suggesting the industry is on the up and up you need to support them. And I haven't even touched on the fact that most people don't have to pay a dime to listen to an entire album for free. Also what company spends less money once they start making more? That's definitely not the nature of any business I've ever heard of. Most businesses make more money and then invest more in hopes of making that much more. What kind of strategy is that? Invest less earn more? Lol. It's completely counterintuitive and generally doesn't happen. Janet Jackson was my first crush when I was a kid. I had her poster by my bed, I had at least two of her CDs. Damn life was definitely simpler back then. The only things I had to worry about was getting homework turned it, and not being late for supper. That was back when we kids still played outside most of the time. On the weekends we'd spend most of the day riding our bikes around the neighborhood. We go to the nearest gas station, and spend our allowance money on snacks and drinks, and then take them back to our friends house, where we'd watch movies and played video games, or we'd go to the park. We did all that without anybody trying to steal us, or harass us in anyway. Then when the sun starts going down, I get on my bike and pedal as fast I could back home. I'd tried to get there before my dad came home from work. Sometimes he would beat me there, other times I'd beat him there, and then sometimes we'd arrive at the same time. He would ask me what I did all day, and I'd tell him as we're walking to the front door. Yeah life was good back then.

Soon as the beat opens up and hits that bassy beatswitch at 0:18 it feels me with so much joy! Janet was stunning during this period. Her hair was poppin', skin was glowing, harmonies on fleek & above all her - that voice & that footwork on the dancefloor was out of this world.
