So Golden Week is essentially of a combination of four different holidays in one week. Starting with Shōwa Day on April 29th, Constitution Memorial Day on May 3rd, Greenery Day on May 4th, and Children's Day on May 5th. Shōwa Day is controversial as it marks the birthday of Hirohito (and also coincidentally the same day in 1948 that the Allies' military tribunal in Japan sentenced key officials of the Imperial government like Tojo to death), so when Hirohito died in 1989, the holiday was renamed to Greenery Day. But in 2007, it was renamed to Shōwa Day, and Greenery Day was moved to May 4th. They declared Constitution Memorial Day and Children's Day as holidays in the late 1940s, but Children's Day has been celebrated since ancient times I know it's McDonald's and all but honestly, McDonald's is much better outside the US, and I don't blame Americans for wanting to have McDonald's when they visit other countries since the menus are different. Not to mention, they're everywhere for a quick bite to eat while you're on a budget or have a schedule.

Shibuya Crossing is the world’s busiest pedestrian crossing, with as many as 3,000 people crossing at a time. Tokyo-based architecture professor Julian Worrall has said Shibuya Crossing is "a great example of what Tokyo does best when it's not trying." There's a statue there of a famous dog called Hachikō. There's a movie about it called Hachi: A Dog's Tale (though it's told from an American perspective so if you want the true story, watch Hachikō Monogatari). Basically, Hachikō was born in 1923 on a farm near Ōdate, a professor brought him to live in Shibuya as his pet, Hachikō would meet the professor at Shibuya station every day after his commute home until 1925 when the professor died, however the dog didn't know this and still came to Shibuya station every day to wait for him until the dog itself died in 1935. Omurice lore: One story says that it originated around the turn of the 20th century at a Western-style restaurant in Tokyo's Ginza district called Renga-tei, inspired by chakin-zushi (a regional variation of inarizushi; typically fried tofu but instead, it's an omelet filled with sushi rice). Another story says that the dish originated in 1925 at another Western-style restaurant, Hokkyokusei in Osaka, when a cook decided to enliven a regular customer's order of an omelet with rice.
