Steve's POV スティーブ的視点 I have become one of those viewers. I shared it with my friends on Facebook. I really like your Japanese/American cultural comparison series. Can't wait the next one!
Yeah, this is damn too true. There also is a problem in America, where unsupervised workers are taking advantage of the company they work for through time clock manipulation and sleeping in while clocked in. I feel like part of it has to do with the company treating their workers like shit, so the workers made a choice to cheat the company they work for. On the other hand, part of it may be due to cultural differences. The Japanese care about how others view them, how they are perceived by others. The Americans on the other hand don't really get bothered by what others say about them or how others perceive them. I think there is an advantage and disadvantage to both.
Funny indeed. Im an American who deals with many clients and follows the Japanese way of professionalism in business here in the states and people love me for it. I memorize names and what they like and always make myself available to them without sounding like they are burdening me. If I have to say no, I say it in such a way that it doesnt hurt their pride, respectfully. Its a system thats all about customer satisfaction and it really works well in a land of selfish egos! Thanks Steve for the comparison video, I'll show it to my colleagues for a laugh!

Mitchell, I am glad you wrote and commented. thank you, you have realized a great point.. Yes, the video is funny, but you found the secret within the video. "its all about customer satisfaction and it really works well in a land of selfish egos" you will be a better man and better businessman indeed for knowing how both sides work!!!! Thank you!

Steve, man, how did you learn Japanese? Your Japanese is so frickin good. Sorry if you've already answered this before but this is the first video of yours that I watched (Facebook friend posted this :o)

Hi Eclaium ! Thanks for writing and I don't mind answering anytime. I have some videos on my channels (check em out if you can) where I am singing J-pop songs.. I like Japanese music a lot and always listen to it at the gym or in the car whenever I can. For me that has been a helpful tool as well as watching japanese news and some tv as well. It is hard keeping my Japanese fresh because I have been away from Japan for a long time but I am trying my best. I appreciate your compliment... watch my vids too where I am speaking Japanese.. sometimes its easier too learn from watching another foreigner speak it (although I am sure there are plenty of mistakes too!!) LOL
I do believe most of the Japanese comments are given by teens or some guys unable to find a job. I worked in Japan for 3 years and those salarymen really work like the way you show. They keep their desks clean and make polite phone calls. More importantly whatever they’re in charge of they do it fast and eliminate mistakes. And they’re proud of it. I was clicking on you vid for a laugh but then got disappointed by those Japanese kids.
So true!!! And not only for the salespeople - even the other staff as well... I've worked in Japan for 10-years, and have been working here in the US for 2-years - Americans are typically lazier and pay less attention to detail than their Japanese counterparts. Though most of the "salaryman" time is spent on overtime; the Americans would spend most of the time chatting non-work related in the office, and leave by 5PM. Sometimes I wonder why American CEOs/Executives get paid WAY more than their Far Eastern brothers but with less to show for...?
