Son gorilla overwhelmed by the power of the silverback｜Shabani Group

When Shabani and Kiyomasa came up from the basement, I didn't feel the same tension as the day before.
After breakfast, Shabani often spent time near Ai
Later, Kiyomasa drummed on Shabani and threatened him, but Shabani calmly handled the situation and left the scene.
Annie went to Kiyomasa, who was sleeping, and the two played happily together.
A smile returned to Kiyomasa's face for the first time in a long time.
I think Annie is neutral since she goes near Shabani as well.
By the time lunch started, Shabani was chasing Kiyomasa around.
Kiyomasa seemed a little intimidated by Shabani's power.
When lunch began all the gorillas ate as usual.
Annie was happily playing with her keepers, not caring about Shabani and Kiyomasa.
No video because I had plans for the afternoon.

They have the most fascinating gestures and behaviours...the rapid head scratchy / head banging thing, and holding a hanging object in their mouth and twirling their head, and the pursed lips when they're trying to be intimidating lol

they're the only troop I've seen with that extreme of behavior but I think they're just acting out getting attention to say Hey! I wanna play! Who wants to join? Seems very open and playful they can't use words but they can use body language

Kiyomasa can't really hurt Shabani because Shabani is more powerful and has big canines. I'm sure he won't harm Kiyomasa but will warn him

Kiyo is being reminded who is responsible for this troop. I wish the zoo would make Shabani and Ai a priority and give them a few days where they weren’t on display. Away from Kiyo’s constant presence and the noise of the crowd so they could have another baby. That would bring so much excitement to the zoo! And lots of visitors!! ❤

Unfortunately AI didn't take care of Annie after birth....she got pneumonia from neglect and was hand raised for 10 months. I don't think AI has it in her to mother

@@ChristineCole-kl4vuWell, besides the fact that baby gorillas are so cute and a big draw for visitors, I suspect that Shabani’s genetics and stunning looks might have something to do with it. Some silverback gorillas in the US have 4-6 (or more) children from multiple females. 😊

@@ChristineCole-kl4vu Understand your point. Zoos and sanctuaries are two different things, each with a separate purpose. However, they each contribute to the conservation of animal species in their own way, regardless of whether they have more births or not. In this case, I don’t think it’s so much that Ai has another baby as it is that Shabani does, due to his genetics and good looks. Regardless, I don’t see it happening with the current females at this zoo, so the point is somewhat moot.

Kiyo knows that Shabani is the boss . The days that I was there visiting Shabani he didn’t let him near the girls and even Nene didn’t try to defend him so he didn’t have any allies and soon he saw Shabani he tried to hide , getting away from his father!

So very Sad to see them caged.. They belong on a mountain.. Just look at the Expressions of these beautiful animals ... they speak loudly.. and say nothing...

They have a better life than most animals. For example there's a local business near me that keeps a dog as a "guard dog". Poor thing is only 1 year old and is a sweet little pitbull mix. This dog is ignored 24 hours a day, under fed, and by herself all day. These gorillas have it good and they're not in dancer of being poached. There are thousands of dogs neglected like the one I mentioned.

Kiyomasa and Ai are half-siblings…they have the same mother (Nene), but different fathers. Shabani is Kiyo’s father; I’m not sure who Ai’s father is.

@@luvcats120 She has no control. The chimpanzees at the zoo have had descendants in recent years. And now they have a new female in the family. The zoo is interested in them reproducing. Ai does not mate with Shabani because she does not want to.
