I'm watching this in March 2022. My first take on it was "oh, surely he's playing it up to show the futility of shooting the show from home," but as I'm reading the comments, I'm more identifying with how I've felt as an educator trying to do virtual and hybrid learning. It's still energizing to engage the kiddos, but it's a huge psychological drain and just not as fun. I was really excited to get back into the classroom last fall - but conditions have changed a lot for students, not to mention delta and omicron coming along and reversing some of the freedoms felt last summer. Anyway, enlightening to see the commentary and perspectives here, especially in hindsight.

Acting is a real job.. And they have more money than you’ll ever make. Most Americans live paycheck to paycheck, they never will. And 10% of the population is unemployed right now. So a “real” job isn’t secure, either I think almost everyone would choose to be rich and happy for 10 years, then to live 70, living paycheck to paycheck, not a ton of job security, and being stuck. But go off

Saying "we're all in this together" etc makes it sound like we all are basically affected the same. We're not. You can't say that from a mansion, and knowing that you could live like a rich person for 2 years without going broke. They're not affected the same as the working class people that will get evicted and not have health insurance when they loose their jobs. I am saying this as someone whose job isnt affected and has universal health care. Me saying to a single parent who lost their job that "we're in this together" is insulting. I think that's why you hate it.

The trumpet playing was so “powerful” because of the same reason the violin playing from the book Night was. Everyone’s alone, dying, and suddenly they hear music- a shine of hope and light in all this darkness. Making a Tiktok does NOT have that same effect

I think he’s possibly been troubled for a looooong time. There have been rumors flying for years about depression, cocaine, and alcoholism. Since he started hosting he has always looked like he’s trying too hard. Laughing too hard, slapping the desk, almost like he’s desperate for his guests’ approval or for his audience to laugh as hard as he does. Meanwhile Seth Myers is known for making his guests feel welcome and seems like he’s happy to see them and talk to them. His jokes since he’s been working from home are telegraphed wayyy too much though. Like, dude, don’t draw attention to your sight gags, just let them play out. Ruins the joke. I think some of Jimmy’s games with his guests are fun, but his interviews are awkward. The opposite for Seth.

No matter your opinions on the song “Imagine” please at least acknowledge it WAS NOT meant as a song to be sung during a pandemic. If anything, it was an anti-war, anti-capitalist song, and millionaire celebrities trying to fit that to a time where people are getting very sick just comes off as fake and oblivious.

Also it makes me sad how people are picking apart the lyrics about "Imagine there's no heaven" and religion which basically just means that if people wouldn't live their life for the eternal and would acknowledge that there's only this one shot in life in this world we might be more loving and caring towards other people and better to planet earth.

Fallon's joke delivery is actually kind of creepy and unnerving to watch. He's so dead inside you can legitimately feel it. In a sense I kind of feel bad for him cause it's probably weird to deliver all your jokes to a camera when you're so used to a live tv audience.
