You don’t have to to do what Klopp did and put out a whole team of youth, just a couple or so to see out the game. Look at what happened to Newcastle for playing the same squad for so long.

You can't complain about your young players not having experience in situations, even the last 10-15 minutes to kill off a game, when you won't sub them on so they can GET the experience. How will they become able to handle the big moments if you never allow them to play in them and learn? Playing in a simulated training or at youth club level is a different beast to playing in the PL

As a Newcastle fan, we've been practically begging Howe to use more of the yourh players, particularly atvend of games, to allow some of the very few fit players to come off and get a rest. Even when we've been losing, we just wanted some players to get a rest cos they were so knackered. If it wasnt for all our injuries, Miley probably wouldnt have got a game this season, yet look how he's developing. I know different players, different circumstances and other things that get usef as arguments but come on, just like any job, you cant get experience until someone lets you do it!

The reason to change managers is about having a higher ceiling. Westham are about tapped out at 6-8 place under their current manager and style, they’ve hit their ceiling. However if you did get the right manager who can keep them in 6-8 the next year or two while playing better football, bringing young players into the first team, and has potential to get you competing for top 4 and further trophies then it is the right time to part ways and reach for a new high before you go backwards as a club. Because stagnation eventually leads to a downturn you have to progress and yes progression comes at a risk but stagnation and regression become inevitable if you don’t progress.

i kinda agree about the using of young players. and i agree about youngsters being put under pressure if defending a lead. if they fvck up, it can knock their confidence badly. i saw the same thing with hodgson at palace. he only put young players in the squad, cos of an injury pile up. whats the point of having an academy, if you dont bring players through? use it, or scrap it. money can be used better elsewhere. look how ferguson to give his youngsters 10-15 mins here and there. and gradually blood them into the first team.

A lot of managers only think about winning the next match and don't think long term about integrating fresh blood and building a squad that can keep going all season and come back better next season. By flogging the same 14 players, the team is likely to become predictable and stale plus risk fatigue and injury. I would have thought that at least one of you professional pundits would at least consider that but seems that you suffer from same short-sightedness as a lot of British managers.

It's kind of similar to what England managers, under pressure from the likes of Talk Sport, do every time there is a major tournament. Flog the likes of Beckham, Rooney, Kane based on their reputation, despite form, injuries and mental state; despite having a range of players on the bench that could come in and change the dynamics of a match. The game has changed, with the ability to bring on a lot more subs. Those managers that stick with the same trusted 11 players are missing a trick and still think we're playing in the 70s. No wonder teams like West Ham and Chelsea come unstuck when they come up against teams that are utilizing a full squad.

Chelsea are a long way from being amongst Europes elite. They need to win FA Cup and/or get top 6. West Ham United need a refresh.

What the west ham caller was trying to say can be summed up with the following: They have the smallest, oldest squad in the league & despite that they rotate the squad the least & use the least number of substitution with the least number of minutes, & because of their European commitments they have played the most games. West Ham have one of the best youth teams currently, FACT but we have a manager that REFUSES to put any faith in them, I thank Moyes for helping this team achieve what its achieved, but we have Academy players that arent getting a sniff because he doesnt believe in them because of his own backward thinking, we NEED a manager that will inject some youth into this squad and start integrating our youth setup into our senior squad, Otherwise we're going to be back where we were 4-5 years ago
