I was lucky to have met Jason (and the other band members) in 87' in Tulsa, Ok. They were staying at the hotel I worked at. He was super nice and gave me front row tickets to their show. I was a fan of Chicago before Jason but, even more so once he joined. Such great talent.

He came in one time into the studio where I was recording my first CD, I didn’t know who he was at the time being lead singer from Chicago, After hanging with him for a bit, I found out after-the-fact who he was, of course I was shocked... he was cool! Jason told me he enjoyed my music! Then we all went the next day to play baseball! Chicago is awesome!

Wait...now that I'm listening the song the song "Somewhere In Between Us"...I hear like it is live, and even has horns! Now I'm curious🤔...Had Jason ever performed this tender, passionate country-pop ballad live?😮 Was it intended to be part of a Chicago album at some point? It would be great if someone, or Jason himself, answers!!😃

A great ensemble in several iterations up to now ...... this man replaced Bassist / Vocalist Peter Cetera .... a high tenor of very quality lead vocals .... however THERE WAS ROBERT LAMM, TERRY KATH & thereafter the age of change came a few more decent singers as time went on. Scheff and his contemporaries have done some good .... what they do not have is touch - knowing when to use half voice, soften with a falsetto and hold back power or adlib effect ..... the ballads alone were a hallmark of the original CTA / CHICAGO being a Vocal, Blues/Rock/Jazz fusion band THAT HAD NUANCE !
