I had a fantastic trip around Inner Mongolia two months ago. I rented a car and toured over 3200 km up to the northern most point then down along the Russian border and all the way back to Harbin where we flew home to Chongqing. Loved it! Wishing you safe and enjoyable travels!

Inner Mongolia has been progressing a lot, a far more beautiful place than when I was there backpacking back in 1988. Back in 1988 I went backpack alone for 3 weeks from Hong Kong to Beijing then Inner Mongolia, never felt threatened or scared, it was one of the most memorable experience.

must be a guy. i used to have a girlfriend from Baotou, before 2005 or so, there were still daily purse snatchers and sexual harassment from young men on scooters all over Baotou city and it was dangerous for young women to just be walking on the streets even during the day. I'm very glad it's a lot safer now.

"Astragalus" is a traditional Chinese medicinal material. Most of the time we soak it in water or boil it with other Chinese medicinal materials.

Yes, it is a popular TCM herb. Add Huang Qi, Dried Mulberries, Wolfberries, and Sha Yao(fresh yam) and boil for 20 minutes good for the Liver and Heart.

I love Mongolia and their nomadic life I feel related to minority around the world including Mongol China. Born a complete multiracial multilingual Indonesian living around the world all alone since very young age, during my 7-8 years in Europe some people mistaken me as Chinese or Thai as my natural tan was faded in winter
