It's a show right on the Penn and Teller show. Without a certain theatricality of the protagonists, viewers would not want to watch this show, because the real fun lies in the reactions to the undiscovered trick, not the revealed ones. The show is based on a very good concept with personalities.

I think some of the best routines include a couple of "sloppy" tricks that the audience is supposed to catch as a way of lulling them into a false sense of security.
@moderndrifter69933 жыл бұрын
There was another magician that fooled them by doing that. Penn says that they got over confident as the act went because it was easy to follow. My Take, The bug one was impressive and the one Penn and Teller were fooled by. I had previously commented on another one of your videos he probably had several clips and he would have just presented the right clip. I went back to his other times on the show and even though that is a possibility I no longer think that was the case. Yea he could have pulled up some clip that had nothing to do with him, but that would have screamed FAKE! So what does this leave us with. Penn checked the Ace of Spades card which tells me that card was not gimmicky. That makes me think there is an Ace of Spaces glued to the back of all the cards, so if checked at the end they all look legit. That only leaves me with the possibility there is some way to remove the fake card to just leave the AS. So if Penn had messed with any of the other cards the trick would have been exposed as all the other cards still had the fake card in front of the AS. So how is the fake card removed to reveal the AS is the Question. And I can only guess. Maybe the bug itself does something. Maybe this is a very sophisticated stand and card setup. Where the bug triggers something in the stand to remove the fake card in front of the AS. I have no idea, So I too am fooled!!!!

Psenicka is a funny and strange guy. I think the first trick was a brainwave or smooth/rough deck (guaranteed 8-hearts). You can tell the guy who picked the card had to struggle a tiny bit separating the chosen card from the one beneath it. The 2nd trick I think all the cards had an A-spades with some other card on top and when he went behind the stand he removed the card that was covering the A-spades on the picture Alison chose (funny that Penn thought it was the double-backed card when it was probably the only one which had its double-back removed and was therefore "clean"). After he wins when the cards fall on the floor, the camera cuts away and never shows that part of the floor again (at least not with the close camera) - I suspect one of the other double-backs may have separated. The last trick is the easiest and was almost certainly just a computer rendering the correct rank /suit in the time between seeing the cards and the on-screen reveal. Notice the recording didn't have him speaking the chosen cards.

First one. It has to be a single card deck. If he has a new method I bet he would have called Penn out on that. Last one was indeed obvious. That second one. He took his time on the reveal. I remember Penn saying that they used to hate magicians trying to do multiple tricks in order to win. He said they demanded from the producers that no one be allowed to do it anymore. I listened to a podcast with Ondřej and apparently when he was asked to go to Fool Us for the third time, he was out of performance practices. His two major hit practices were already used, so he kinda had to make up something silly and hope for the best. So I think they basically had to allow him to perform multiple tricks if they wanted to bring him back there. He also said that since it was kinda hastily put together, he was still memorizing the script and finishing details on his way to Vegas, which is also not according the rules :D

@@zaidelaymat797 I don't want to divulge anything, but for a certain production you need a good and disciplined audience that follows the instructions and is not interested in spoiling the magician's production. If you perform magic yourself, you know the cases where the spectator (male-hero), especially in front of women, tends to change the recommended procedure to "convict" the magician. That's why, for example, you no longer borrow cards from your hands. The magician bet well on the discipline of his audience - he could throw the cards in the deck to Teller, who followed exactly the procedure, that the selection will be made pictures down, that the second card will be the first from above and that the other cards should be thrown behind. The power of this particular magic is in the trust that will convince others that the matter was not forced. There's a bit of psychology involved

I'm trying to figure out how he had Allison force a card, without her knowledge. Regardless, there are only two magicians, the other being Jandro, who have three FU Trophies, and they are both fun guys who have a lot of humor. By the way, I do not consider Helen Coghlan a magician, so I don't count her, because all three of her escapes were performed in equipment designed and built by her father, a trained monkey could have done what she did, her father is the real fooler.
@goldeneddie3 жыл бұрын
Yes, I was very shocked when Helen Coghlan got a trophy - I feel like P&T let her off lightly because she's female. Her very obvious contraption-based trick certainly wasn't anything like the full standard of planning and performance presented here by Ondrej - HE deserved his trophies!

Jason Parker Ah, they must’ve uploaded less on other platforms, it’s episode 617 on Apple podcasts. It is not explicitly said which rule he broke but the conversations seems to indicate Alyson was prompted ahead of time to select that specific guru picture. Penn’s producer to Penn- “You were not pleased when you walked off and you talked to Alyson and Alyson told you why she chose the face that she chose.” I’m not 100% sure on this but I remember hearing they explicitly made plants against the rules after the first season. Edit: It is the most recent episode (July 1st) if you want to listen for yourself. Overall Penn very much likes him

Any time I see someone asked to pick a card and not show it to anyone but still reveal what the card is I automatically assume it's an insta-stooge. My guess would be the cards are all different in the top left corner so it looks like an ordinary deck when he fans them about, but the rest of the card is all the same on each. Alyson doesn't look at the cards so there's no reason for her to suspect it's a gimmicked deck, but the guy who picks the card is immediately "in on it." No idea how the second part of the trick is done though.
@LordRunty4 жыл бұрын
My understanding is that plants/stooges/whatever and having Alyson be in on the trick are against the rules, which is why "that audience member was a plant" is never part of the explanation. It's a gimmicked deck, but on the basis that the audience must be real audience members, there must be more to it than just that the corner of the card shows something different.
@thesammyjenkinsexperience49964 жыл бұрын
@@LordRunty Dude there have been insta-stooges throughout the entire series of Fool Us. The most memorable one being the name/table/meal act where three members of the audience are brought onstage and seated at different tables and are given different meals. They are then asked to read a card from an envelope which predicts their name, which table they are sitting at and which meal they were given. The card they are reading from literally says "My name is [please say your name], and...". That's not even a guess, because an overhead camera caught it for a split second while the guy was reading it and for some reason it wasn't edited out. All three guys sat there completely unimpressed because they knew exactly how the trick was done the moment they saw the card.
@thesammyjenkinsexperience49964 жыл бұрын
@@LordRunty And the rule is they cannot have stooges that are planned in advance. Insta-stooges are fine, because there is always the risk they won't cooperate.

@@thesammyjenkinsexperience4996 Yeah, Einhorn's trick was weak, because in the end his trick boiled down to just grabbing the right set of cards from 6 lots in his pockets with a whole lot of superfluous fluff to make it seem way more impressive. But 'say your name' is much easier to get people to comply with than 'just say 8 of Hearts' especially if it's the normal card corner that they see first. But yeah, I'll grant that it's possible that's how the card force was done (can you still call that a card force?). Thechosenhitman claimed that they were at the filming of this episode and talked to the guy afterwards as well, and was told that it was the actual card. Assuming that's true, that means the person who picked the card really didn't notice it said anything other than 8 of Hearts.
@thesammyjenkinsexperience49964 жыл бұрын
In the latest episode of Penn's Sunday School, Penn revealed that the second part of the trick involving the guru faces did involve a gimmicked card, and that Alyson explained her decision to him afterward. He alluded to there being some kind of dual reality or insta-stooging at play and it wasn't just a force that left her thinking she had a free choice.
@SiwakSerg4 жыл бұрын
In my mind's eye, this trick is very catalyzing so that the chemistry is about to happen between Audrey and anybody else who holds the deck of cards. And when I mean chemistry, I mean things which are very familiar to us all. The body heat, for instance, is something that brings nostalgic memories (about eight of hearts, I mean). P.S. I think there was no point in checking the ace of spades by Penn cause it's already the ace of spades. He should have checked at least one of the other cards left.
