After very quickly exploring the new Cali Texas Ch. 1 in yesterday after Helix 2.60 came out, I thought it would be fun to dive a little deeper into the new model and combine it with the previous Ch. 2 model to create a preset incorporating the entire amp. I hope you all enjoy this and the preset is available up on CustomTone here for those who are interested:

Jason--I love what you did here. Had a gig this past weekend (classic rock, more or less)--lived on this patch most of the evening. Such great tone and versatility! Thanks much for the patch and for all of your insightful videos!

Thanks so much for this. I imported it into my HX Stomp (Helix preset viewer helped). Closest I've gotten to my Blues Jr. Tone!!! Running Blues Jr out of main outputs, Headrush FRFR out of send. both amps sound really close. When starting, the tone was very tubby until I messed with the cabinet cuts. Thanks again, and don't forget us HX Stomp guys

Excellent work, Jay! What's so amazing about this new model is how easy it is to dial in tones. I had a Lonestar Special. And, while I could get great tones from that beast (78 lbs to be exact), it could take quite a bit of time to dial things in "just right." It had a lot of knobs. So, not only is this new model much easier on my back, it is so amazingly quick to dial in! Thanks for taking the time.

I own a Lonestar 2x12 combo and a helix, but have only just made the updates from firmware 2.54 to 2.81. It seems like these models react very similarly to the real amp, which is incredibly bass heavy very responsive. Great demo! (Plus the amp is so loud that even on a medium stage size I’ve never been able to crank that master volume so I’m going to have a lot of fun with this model haha).

Despite how wonderful the AC30 and Deluxe verb models sound(those are typically my go tos) i cant turn off this Lonestar Ch 1. Actually ive got it coupled with the Placater Clean in full stereo. Running my full pedalboard into the Stomp with Neunaber Expanse in the stereo loop. Mind blowing tone. I could one ever dream of this tone when i was using real amps. In love. Great video Jason. As always my friend.....

Jason, thanks so much! This sounds amazing. I loaded this one on my LT today. Completely blown away! Question, I noticed a huge volume jump between snapshots. Do you recommend bringing down the master volume on each or should I adjust for the volume in another way? I do not want to kill the amazing tone that I am getting out of this one.
@JasonSadites
@JasonSadites 6 жыл бұрын
My pleasure and so glad you like it Jason :-) If you need to balance the volume between snaps at all don't use the Master as that will change the tone. Use the Ch. Vol. or the level control in the Output block. Hope it works out for you alright...

Beautiful! I think this is my favorite clean amp of them all. I keep wondering how you decide that the split cross should be used rather than the tonestack of the amp?
@JasonSadites
@JasonSadites 6 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much and so glad you like it :-) It is more of an instinctive decision to be honest. I will usually mess with the tone stack to get a feel for what the controls are doing and then decide whether I can get what I need out of them or use the split x-over. Also, the split gives a more broad control when set where I usually set it. Not sure if that helps at all, but I hope so :-)

I always say just start making changes and seeing what you like and don't like and you will usually quickly learn the moves that work for you :-) Best of luck with it!

how do you monitor your tones, in the room? Im torn between my powered monitor wedges and my studio monitors. I'm more interested in setting up patches for live work with a full band (bass, drums, and 2 guitars) as opposed to use for recording.
@JasonSadites
@JasonSadites 6 жыл бұрын
For the videos I usually use my studio monitors which are Tannoy Reveal 502. I recently received a Mission Gemini 2 which I will be using on some upcoming presets and I will have a PowerCab+ in the near future also. If you are trying to dial in for live I would probably use your monitor wedges at close to stage volume to make sure you are going to hear what you want when using them live. Hope that helps a little :-)
@MrStephenlederle
@MrStephenlederle 6 жыл бұрын
Jason Sadites thanks ,Jason. It's more of a confirmation of my instincts. Is the Powercab really a good solution to live monitoring on stage? I don't want to fall to the hype. I don't have anywhere close that sells them so hands on time will be zero. I respect you opinion. Love you videos.
@JasonSadites
@JasonSadites 6 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the kind words and my pleasure :-) I have only had the PowerCab in my studio for one afternoon thus far, so have never tried it live yet. My first instinct is that it would do a very nice job live. It is a really great sounding monitor and very flexible with its built in speaker emulations. But again that is just from my first impression in the couple hours I had with it.

Love your video's. Just have a small question. I have Helix LT 2.60 and there is only Cali Texas Ch2 and nowhere I can find ch 1? Any idea's on that?
@JasonSadites
@JasonSadites 6 жыл бұрын
Thank you MacEffie :-) Is it showing up on the hardware unit but not on HX Edit? If so, you will need to update your HX Edit software to the latest version also. Hope that helps...

Thxs Jason for the quick responce and you were right. Had to update my software version as well. Hope you will be making nice video's in the future for a long time. If you have ever time to make a patch and no inspiration (but i don't think you have :) ) maybe you can think of Ted Greene (The Chord Chemist). He was a phenomenal guitarplayer with a very nice sound. One of the many KZbin movies: kzbin.info/www/bejne/sHXYlphsl9GpoJo

Thanks!!! I have the Tannoy 802's through a Scarlett 2i4 and I often have a lot of bass frequencies I find hard to handle... Any suggestion apart from Low cut?
@JasonSadites
@JasonSadites 6 жыл бұрын
My pleasure :-) I would start by not being afraid to keep going higher with the low cut until you get rid of the low end. You could also try using the distance control on the mic and move it back until the lows are under control. Hope that helps :-)

Actually, I think I will continue doing things exactly as I have been and you can skip what you don't like. You could also start your own channel and put yourself out there for others to listen to and then you can play whatever you want for your videos. You could even "play a song" if you want.
