Thanks for the tutorial. **Question** I'm laying bamboo poles from my 6ft mud brick wall to my football field post in reverse (horizontal pole at the top), which makes half of my 40 degree angle roof (I am making half a hut roof attached to one of my house walls). Which knots will hold the bamboo poles in place at that angle? Many thanks.

I'd like more about why. Why use teh round turn and two half hithches instead of just two half hitches? When is it ok to just use the two half hitches and leave out the round turn? It's nice learning all the different knots, but I don't really understand when to use which.

One reason is that the round turn creates friction around the anchor point, so it makes tying the half hitches a lot easier when the rope is loaded.
