I just think it's now had a massively bad effect on public sympathies. As an experienced hill-walker in Scotland, hiking long-distance footpaths and the Munros, you have to be really careful about trying to take shortcuts across the mountains or endeavouring to walk routes as the crow flies. You’ll end up struggling down shear drops and into ravines where it’s extremely hazardous and so easy to become lost and disoriented; a total nightmare, especially if you don’t have the right clothing, footwear, sufficient water, food or a shelter. I do fear for the poor lad, it’s not looking good.

Yes your right. In Scotland it's a little easier as there are no bushes and shrub. In fact in that terrain on Tenerife, if you have no experience and you don't stick to the path you could quite easily walk of a cliff edge. Adding drunkenness, dehydration and lack of sleep, it would be a very dangerous place to take a walk.

None of it adds up. His pinged location Lucy showed, is about an hours walk from the house. Timing is off. The bus stop was immediately outside the front door.. she stated she called 911 to report him missing. Thats America, not here. Not something you’d forget quickly if you’d constantly been calling like she said. Police certainly wouldn’t have said they’d send a helicopter at the first phone call that’s just ludicrous. A go fund me account set up for 30k? A specific amount for an extended stay in a cheap hotel I’d say. How long do they expect to be here? It all stinks imo. Someone did spot him; that female at the bus stop. Jay possibly decided to walk. What was he doing with these two men? The vfc timeline appears strange. He left with these two men at 5 a.m., or is this misinformation? Jay shouldn't deviate from the main road at all. He had to become disoriented and perhaps fell over into that terrain. I think it was irresponsible of those two men to not see Jay safely back where they picked him up.

they may have offered him a bed, crash on the sofa. He felt safe enough to go back with them, to buy something, to party more, anything if you are not wanting to go back home to sleep can seem like an adventure. Maybe to make new connections. Maybe he intended to get that bus, maybe like the comments on here suggest he was into "dealing" he wanted to do some business with these guys if they were going home and they had some to sell... missed the bus back and made the wrong path ....add to the fact he has been at a party several days and very likely in serious need of fluids & electrolytes. Severe dehydration can cause many problems in the heat.

Jay was impatient to wait for the bus, so why would he wait for a restaurant to open? Jay should have waited for the bus, and if he decided to walk, wished he'd stay on the main road. You can't get lost if you were on the main road, and stay off the trails. It's unfortunate because we really don't know what happened. I don't like the replies those two men gave police; he was going to get cigarettes and catch a bus. They should have been offering the young man a ride back to where they lured him away.

Im from the uk .. it makes no sense that he would decide to walk 11 hours rather than wait the two hours for the bus . Unless he was highly intoxicated. It was a teenage boy and a older man he was seen with. Yes he did attack someone in the uk and was only given community service.. i don't think he actually attacked the guy he was just there and a part of it.
