I will be 60 in 2 mths. Training since age 17...motivation does wane at times but I've mimicked your "fit for 50" and I'm on a "fit for 60" goal. For me the challenge is tightening up my Diet. My Training and cardio is going really well. Love the content Jay...

I’ve been working out like you. Never had this kind of motivation since watching Jay. The days/training and diet have always been on point but the extra reps are all due to Jay.

Jay feels more like a personal friend than the GOAT that he is - not pretentious, honest, sincere, relatable, and likable. There is one thing I hope someone can help me with. Everything you read or see in videos stress reps that have full range of motion, are slow and controlled, especially on the eccentric movement (negative), and that incorporate perfect form. Jay's reps appear to violate everything I have ever read, but yet he is the GOAT. Why the inconsistency, and should I begin using Jay's reps style? Thanks...

I’m 45. I was weighing in at 430 pounds back in December. I’ve changed my diet and nutrition and have recently started back in the gym. I’m down to 382 today. My ultimate goal is 250. Your training videos especially where you’re doing more teaching are very motivating. I’ve always wanted to look better but now it’s a matter of health. Your fit for 50 was huge motivation and a big help to keep me focused on my goals. Thank you for putting these videos out. Keep teaching and inspiring others.

My main motivation is my absence from the gym for the last several years. I ask myself the same question every day "What would i look like today had i not quit training 19+ years ago?" i had a good solid 8 1/2 years under my belt beforehand. Ive been back for almost 2 months now. Kick myself in the ass every day for quitting. im 50 now and realizing its much harder at my age than it was at 25/30 years old!

As a natural lifter, arms are one of my strengths that gave me the confidence to push bodybuilding hard. I can sit there and pump out strict 60 lb dumbbell for sets of 12 pretty easily. I have to really work for chest though. I see some of these other natural KZbinrs with millions of views and I can crush or complete with their numbers at half the training time (5 years) I really don’t think most people have what it takes to routinely push themselves to true failure .. or to follow through in a hierarchy like natural bodybuilding which, without high self confidence, seems impossible with how people discuss it as sort of a joke and like no one is capable of achieving any notable results without hopping on gear. I think natural is the truth for the average guy who values longevity and aesthetics.. but no one has any realistic expectations due to the frauds out there.

Hi Jay....what motivates me....like you said stress relief is the big one with training. Staying as fit as possible always feels good on many levels. I just turned 45 and have had 2 spinal surgeries and a recent hip surgery so there has been a lot of changes and challenges with that. Love training so it's hard to not biast the heavy weight. Started using some of your supplements a few months ago. Great product! The prevail I use a half scoop and that is more than plenty to jam! Changing creatine to your brand....just ordered the prevail/creatine stack. Looking forward to that limited edition cup! Have not tried your protein yet...want to give that a shot as well. What motivates me with your channel....number one you have been extremely successful at what you do....I look up to you for that...2..we are close in age so it's exciting to see you can still get in that weight room and get it done and 3 I really enjoy seeing your different exercises and home routine with the diet. Unfortunately we have a small basic gym.....live in a small town. I would love to have access to the Hammer Strength machines you have! Thanks for the good content Jay! Picked up some Ezekiel cinnamon raisin today also LOL!

The fact that Jay is free of any "long lasting" ailments in his joints says so much about how meticulous he is about form and technique. Personally, I wish I had had someone "coaching" me on how to protect my shoulders, other wise, I wouldn't be having to workout around minor tears in my rotator cuff in my left shoulder, and I'm feeling some pain in my right shoulder as well. My shoulders is the only place I feel any discomfort or pain. I am really paying attention to my form, technique, and weight / poundage that I lift. My original injury to my shoulder was doing side lateral raises with 40 lbs...that was stupid, way too heavy. Before that, I was benching 80 lbs. DB's on the flat bench for 10 reps, now I'm too scared to even attempt to get the DB's into position for fear of tearing my rotator cuff completely. I have difficulty performing sgl. arm DB curls on an incline bench and ether standing or seated DB curls with my left arm. I feel the discomfort just off center of my shoulder towards the front when I perform those. No problems with an EZ bar, EZ cable, or Preacher with both arms at the same time.

It's amazing how in most of his training videos, Jay would say that he is gonna do 5/6 exercises but when he comes to the last one, always ends up doing one extra. Just shows how much he loves to train and once he gets in his flow, he just doesn't wanna stop. Stuff of legends.
@Mrbobcat7
@Mrbobcat7 7 ай бұрын
Wow, I think his arms look better now than when he was competing! Probably because he has lost some mass to the core. Anyway, blows my mind he rarely does full range movements. As far as the training goes, wouldn't alternating the bi and tri exercises be better for the pump or is it usually better to finish one body part at a time? Interesting about the comments on tendinitis. I never had it in my elbows, but pretty much every other joint. Mostly shoulders and knees in the past, but the last couple years its on one hip and possibly lower back. Its driving me crazy as it just doesn't seem to get better. I tried switching exercises, lighter weight, a short layoff, but still not going away. Even doctors have different opinions of what it could be from tendinitis or bursitis. I have not had x-rays done yet, but one doctor suggested a cortisone shot to see if that would help and if not it could be something else. IDK, I was thinking maybe trying a chiropractor first since I haven't been to one in probably 25 years.

You ask what we like to see in your videos... So far, I'd say your instincts are pretty good. I don't remember a video you put online that I didn't like. It's simple: I like following you. Whether it's at the gym, at your work, at home, your famous Jaywalks, at conventions, etc... as long as we follow you and see you interact with others and your environment, I'm happy . Why? Because I see you as a role model. Especially for your calm, your lack of ego, your confidence, your way of listening to others, the number of questions you ask those who approach you or your friends, your reflections, your way of motivating yourself to go to the gym. I've been training since I was 14 and I'm your age. I'm definitely not as competent as you but I identify with you nonetheless. I too struggle to go to the gym. Man! I can find all kinds of reasons not to go and skip it for a day. But once I got there, I'm happy. And I know that you too are asking yourself serious existential questions. You too have difficulty motivating yourself for the gym. You say it so often! But the way you go, the way you now train, the motions you go through, the way you take a breath between sets, it just motivates me to do the same. I've always been like that. I always needed to identify with someone I admired. Try to imitate him. Am I secure with who I am? I like to believe so. And yet, I need to imitate someone... while remaining myself if that makes any kind of sense. Role models. They are so important. Life is hard. The answers don't always come easily. It is not always obvious to move forward with confidence and leadership. I studied to write movie screenplays. When I want to get in the mood, I listen to or read interviews with famous writers. As far as training goes, I used to identify with Arnold, Sly, Rich Gaspari and Dorian Yates. And some athletes that Dave, your friend, probably knows since I come from Montreal. And I still live there. Ask him if he knows André Elie, Jack Chevrier, Denis and Martin Gauthier... I trained for a long time at World Gym in Longueuil and at Planet Muscle in Brossard. Places that your Jaywalking partner probably knows. Anyhow, all this just to say that... you are now my number one inspiration when it comes to motivating myself to go to the gym. All the athletes I mentioned above, I adored them not for their accomplishments or their successes... but for their way of seeing life and motivating themselves. That's what you are to me and, I imagine, to many others since people seem to love you so much! I am convinced that your simplicity, your doubts and your questioning touch people emotionally. Gee Weez, you are Jay Cutler! You are a 4-time Mr Olympia. Probably the biggest one we've ever seen. Certainly one of the most beloved at the moment. Anyone who doesn't like Jay Cutler, I don't want to know him or her. And here you are, despite all your successes, questioning yourself. It's touching. I can only hope that you will always remain yourself. That you will always question yourself. That you will never be satisfied with the present and that you will always be thirsty to learn more. That you won't stop questioning us, wanting to know our opinions. Be curious. I hope you will always show us your weaknesses. And your way of motivating yourself and not giving up. This is your mark of champion. This is what makes your leadership contagious. This is what makes many of us, especially me, imitate you. A clever mix of doubt and confidence. Real life. The Jay Cutler way.

I appreciate that you don't attempt to hate on motivation like a lot of the clueless people in the fitness industry do these days, like it's a trend to hate on it. Discipline isn't something different than motivation, it's the highest form of it. My biggest motivation is know how great I can be and knowing how much I'll enjoy the workout that day.

The gym is my medicine - what keeps me motivated is that I know every time I hit the gym and get it done I'm a little closer to my goal and physique. Thanks for the motivation Jay, you are the man.

Always appreciate Jays comments. For me its just trying to feel better about myself when i pull on a well fitting tshirt having spent far too long in my life being a little too thin. However im travelling in the right direction since i got myself organised with training and eating right

We love to just hear from you man. No matter what the topic is.. we are on board with it! The workout topics are the best in my opinion, but just any knowledge you have to give on anything is very much appreciated champ!!

Back in my bodybuilding / 6-day a week gym days...when it came to arms (and specifically triceps) I did my tricep pull-downs on the floor like you were! I felt it isolated the machine/cable away from my movement more, so I was able to get more of the weight-resistance out of the movement! Good discussion points! Whenever I went to the gym, I made it a point of spending 5-10 minutes before I went in, just decompressing and giving myself 1 or 2 goals to accomplish during THAT session. That help me start out with a motivational aspect before I even walking through the doors. :)

Yeah, there’s nothing worse than a gym where there’s 1 million people there. That’s why I hate my gym because always so many people there. They should have a cap once they get so many members. They shouldn’t accept no more because you can’t do anything.

I am a 4th Year Army ROTC Cadet at UVA. I have been tasked with getting in touch with an expert on physical training and recovery. What we would love is if you could be a speaker for just an hour of your time on zoom (or in person if you would like). I am personally a huge fan and have been for years, I love bodybuilding and would love for other future soldiers to be as passionate as I am. (I also met you at your Jay Cutler Classic Richmond 2022). It can be any time of the day, on any day of the week in the next month or so.
