I have a fake cabin. I often call it a hot tent, or a tent shack, but deep down I think of it as my little fake cabin. There are lots of reasons why it's fake. Here's the story of why it exists and why I'm never giving up on owning a real cabin.

Jay. Thank you my friend. And I mean that from the bottom of my heart brother. This video was exactly what I needed. Dreams. Following your heart. As I was watching I realized that I've been with you through your whole journey up till now. This is a beautiful message to us all to always follow your dreams. Thanks Jay for sharing your story and your progress. You especially helped me through these crazy times and without a doubt many, many other subscribers too. So I thank you and my spirit thanks you. And people.....give Jay a thumbs up because he definitely deserves it. Cheers my friend from Nova Scotia Canada 🇨🇦

What lovely storytelling Jay. Thank you. I live in Australia and one of the reasons I love your channel is watching how you adapt to the cold and snow. I’ve watched you build your “Little Fake Cabin” and admired you for working hard with icicles on your beard and frosty breath. I was a little worried you were announcing your eviction. Now I’m just hoping you get that lease soon. When I was small I was fascinated with living in small spaces. Now they call it Tiny Home living. But back then I would draw plans for my own little one-room abode in a quiet storage area at the back of my family’s shop. I’ve always enjoyed my own space too. Keep dreaming and I’ll keep watching. 🛌 💭 📺

Jay this was a great recollection of all you have done to make your dream! I've been watching (occasionally saying 'i hope this poor guy doesnt freeze to death out there' but always rooting for you) for many years, and to see what you made is so impressive. Good luck to you and enjoy your cabin, in whatever form it takes, for many years!

Hi Jay, I really enjoyed this little trip back in time, when you start a project like this, it is more fun and satisfying during the process of making it happen. I'm 74 years old and I have built many cabins starting out not knowing what I was doing and I even lived in my first wall tent for 5 years full time and I enjoyed it more than any stickbuilt cabin. I envy you for what you are doing and it makes me want to chuck what I have and start all over again. I would love to see you turn this tent into something like Joe and Zach survival, it would be awesome. Remember, simple is better. By the way, you have an excellent voice for narrating. Thanks for sharing.

Jay you have a great voice for the voice-overs, clear with loads of expression in your tones. You could easily make a documentary of your journey thus far. Has been my dream as well forever and very similar with inspiration from friends cabins, family that didn't always do that stuff and the budget aspect as well. Am truly humbled seeing this video and seeing someone enjoy their dream, gives me a lot of inspiration to keep chasing mine as well. Again, thanks for sharing and so happy to see you enjoying yourself and learning along the way, because I know personally all the little things that keep getting learnt on a daily in this lifestyle they add up and make a lot of ease for future days. Holy Mackerel! Has it already been 2 years since you finished the 'fake' cabin? Amazing. Don't sell yourself short Jay. You've come a long way in a short time. Something to be proud of, especially in the extremely cold conditions where a simple mistake could lead to serious consequences. Keep setting higher and higher goals, then work toward them steadily. You'll be surprised how far you can get. As always, thanks for sharing.

Jay, your videos have been kind of an inspiration to me. I remember watching your channel years ago when you were setting up the old big tent. I thought to myself how great it would be to own a nice canvas tent and a stove so I could enjoy camping year round. I never realized I wanted a canvas tent until I saw your videos, and I'm glad I did. I got my hands on a Springbar canvas tent with a stove and took it out in a nearby national forest with some snow recently. It's such an amazing feeling being out there and not just surviving in frigid temps, but living life! There's always a spot for you in my tent down in here in the US. Because without your videos, I wouldn't be able to enjoy one of my favorite things, year round

Love watching your videos Jay. I have 40 acres in the Maine mountains. Been contemplating building a cabin where I now have an old 28’ RV. Really don’t like the idea of being tied to one spot! Use an Arctic Oven tent to enjoy my year round adventures. So much fun and enjoyment I wish others could enjoy as well. You do a super job motivating others to enjoy the great outdoors. It’s hilarious. All of your subscribers, or at least a huge portion of us, sit here watching your videos and feeling so envious. While you pontificate the same feelings for what you’re moving towards. Bro. I live in an apartment. I have multiple injuries from my time in the military and I’m simply not able to build anything myself now. I would unapologetically cut my damn broken feet off if it meant that I could be able to do what you’ve done. It’s good to keep improving and always moving towards bigger and better things, but you don’t have a fake cabin. You have your own quiet little corner of heaven. As jealous as I am, I am really happy for you.

I believe you can do! I have watched you as you struggled to put your tent- cabin up, It wasn’t easy for you, but that’s when you learn the best! You did a beautiful job and took pride in your abilities to build something that was in your dreams. You can do your build when the time comes, and it will surpass your dreams.
